  1. Thank you!! That's exactly what I was looking for. Smalljaw has helped me before...between him and Cadman, I would be lost!
  2. I've searched on here and other sites for a good teaching on how to hand tie jig skirts. Just not finding what I'm looking for. What do you use? Will braid be sufficient or do I need something else like thread? Do you put a drop of glue on the knot after you are done? Do you tie before or after you put the weed guard in? Just trying to get the best tips before I try. Appreciated!
  3. Can someone make a 3 cavity rtv mold for me, or know someone who can? Got a few specific weedless bass jigs I want to replicate for personal use.
  4. For me, the ULTIMATE jig would be a regular football head with a recessed line tie...thought I could modify the Trokar football head to do that but I got carried away with the dremel. It's not a bad mold, I'm just not a fan of the "groove" near the line tie and the flat spot on bottom.
  5. Well used a dremel and it came out aweful!! I wasn't thinking and removed some of the mold material (too much) and poured some jigs and there is NO WAY of recovering the mold. To the trash it goes. Try again when I get another mold. What I was trying to do is, remove the flat spot and also remove the "groove" on the face of this mold. I've always wanted a recessed line tie football jig mold and thought that this one would do. Oh well...at least it doesn't cost that much.
  6. I got the new Do-It Trokar football jig mold yesterday and made up a dozen jigs to see how they looked...turn out pretty good. Question for you guys, how hard is it to modify a Do-It mold? What have you used to modify, dremel, hand tools, or something else? I like this mold but I want to change it a little bit and take the flat bottom out of it and make it a normal football jig, also want to "smooth" out the rough edges, along with some other ideas I have. Appreciate the advice.
  7. Which weedguards do you prefer for making your bass jigs (where do you order yours from)? I've only used the ones from fishingskirts.com which I really like!! Just curious.
  8. Appreciate the help. I'll try the different tips come next week when I can get the time. I'm sure they'll fix my problems.
  9. 1st question: Just got the Do-It football shakey head mold and poured a few along with my usual footbal jigs this weekend. Pouring the shakey heads, do you have to "hook" the hook with the "screw" wire or can you just place the hook in and then place the "screw" wire in? I poured them without "hooking" them together. 2nd question: Some of the 1/8th oz heads were not tight to the hook, kinda loose. Maybe I pulled them out too soon? I always remove the jigs from the mold by grabbing the sprue. 3rd question: While pouring this time, my Lee Pot was not "pouring", it would just "drip" pour which made getting a complete jig almost impossible!! Took 5 pours just to get 1 good jig. I always flux, I did it 2-3 times this time, I adjusted the adjustment screw, I "cleaned: the spout with a piece of wire like I normally do...but nothing I did would create a steady pour like it usually produces. I've always left the lead in the pot, do I need to empty it out after I'm done each time? I've been using this pot for 100-200 jigs now so I consider it fairlly new still. Any suggestions/comments will help. Appreciated as always!
  10. I think fishingskirts.com has some.
  11. I haven't poured plastics in quite a few years. When I did, I poured the micro/pyrex method...what are some other low buck methods you are using? Can you use a Lee's IV Pot? What about this pot that I saw that looks like a crock pot? I want to pour just single sided molds, Just curious.
  12. I have a reply back from Hilts and they say its good for tons of pours...as long as you take care of it. Not going to be as good as aluminum but I would imagine that it would be great for me. Was just curious if anyone hear used it and what they liked/disliked about it. Thanks.
  13. I want to replicate a few jigs for personnal pouring and don't want to spend the $$$ on a custom aluminum mold.Is there anyone who can comment on the Hilts Perfect Replica Mold? I've also read about RTV silicone for molds but don't know where to buy it. Also heard about the Bondo technique...any suggestions on these?? Appreciated as always!
  14. PM'd you but forgot to say which cavity: 2/0 in all 3/0 in all 4/0 in all Appreciated!
