  1. I already pay $6.88 ea. for my favorite spinnerbait. It's a bait that gives me what I am looking for so I am willing to pay the extra money for it. So I can see people paying $7 for a spinnerbait, but on the flip side, like previously stated, it will take something special to get the average fisherman to pay $7 when there are so many great spinnerbaits at low prices available.
  2. I have purchased glitter from Del. I like the qaulity as well as the price. I have also ordered coloring from Barlows and have no complaints about their product either. I know there are a few other places that have different colors and options available.
  3. I like the idea of the exta hook movement with the rings on the original version too. Thanks again!
  4. That is the most obvious and easy solution! BRILLIANT! I can't believe I never thought of that. THanks so much!
  5. I like to replace many of my baits' hooks that come on them when I purchase. I usually buy the rotating excaliber treble to replace those sometimes horrible factory hooks. The problem I have been having is on the Original Zara Spooks, the hooks slide into a metal holder under the belly of the bait. The eye on the factory hooks are enlarged, more than a normal treble to get over that metal piece. The excaliber can not get over that metal piece due the the smaller eye size. It's not a problem on other spooks not made by Heddon, the use split rings, but I am having a tough time finding a really sharp hook with that big eye to slide over the original Heddon Spooks metal hook holders. Is there anyone that uses certain hooks and could offer the brand. THank you!
  6. How much plastic do you use to fill 10 of those babies!
  7. I agree that scent IS important. While I dont nessessarily think that a scent is going to draw a bass from yards away from hitting a reaction lure per say. I do believe that the scent gives you the ability to get a better hook set. If I can do anything to let that fish hang on for a second or two more so I can get a better set, I don't see how that isn't useful. As stated by these anglers previously. If your scent gives you confidence on a certain water or area, or overall use it your advantage. Confidence is very important.
  8. I don?t mind the bucket. I just use a metal soup ladle to scoop out what I need.
  9. I have noticed the plastic expanding myself. I usually do 4 oz. at a time and it seems after heating that I have a little over the line.
  10. Some of those are great. Thanks guys, I wil list them and talk them over with my father. Thanks!
  11. What is stabilizer and why do you use it?
  12. Just bought a new Ranger, and I am so exited! My first real bass boat! My father and I have been fishing in a stratos fishnski for the past 3 years with the intentions on dumping that and going to a regular bass boat. Anyways , we did and I want to get some customized plates for the trailer. Anyone have any creative bass sayings/slogans. Have 8 letters for space. I have thought of a few and am considering them. Just thought I would open the forum up to other possibilities before buying one. Many I thought of are already taken in NYS. Thanks ahead of time!
  13. I had the same problem every now and then. I noticed that it stopped since I have began to heat my mold up before using it.
  14. Your right, that may be the best way to gain some info. Thanks!
  15. It has been nothing but a joy reading through the threads on this board. I really appreciate how everyone is so helpful, especially to the newbies (me) who make their way to the board in search of the light at the end of the burnt plastic tunnel. I appreciate the guys who emailed me when I first came around looking for the beginning steps to start making stik baits. I am proud to say I have began to make them, and they actually look like, act like, the baits I am trying to imitate! I plan on being an avid reader of the forum. I raise my glass to you! -Fleury
  16. I appologize if this wasnt the correct forum, I just figured a forum with fishermen/women that worked on rods might have an idea if this is a newer or older rod/reel. Thanks
  17. I bought my first boat from a older women whose husband had just passed away. When I bought the boat, she gave me a rod and reel combo that he had in his garage. I am basically just wondering if anyone around here knew anything about it. Whether or not its worth hanging onto or if I should try to sell it to someone. I just dont think its anything I will ever use since I don't troll, nor do I plan on doing so anything soon. I don't even have any clue if this thing is an older rod/reel or what. Just basically searching for any info on it. Thanks ahead of time. : On the rod, it says Eagle Claw "Star Fire" T.M. No. SF402 - 7 1/2 FT (229 CM) Trolling Rid by Wright & McGill Co. It has a black Diawa Sealine 27H baitcaster on it. I have searched on how old the rod may be but I just can't seem to find any info. Thanks!
  18. After a few initial trials at pouring for the 1st time these past two weeks. I gave the garlic powder a try myself and I have to say it worked quite well and your right, the scent is great. What are the best options for getting rid of the plastic smell of your homemade baits.
  19. I may just have to give them a shot. Thanks!
  20. I have never used a reaper. How do you fish it? I may be interested in making it my next mold. Since several guys in here were so kind to help me get started here this past week.
