  1. i have been reading and learning allot over the year since i found this sight. now that i have cut out my first bait, i am now having problems with the painting. i put a primer coat of kills down to lay the color over, and then when spraying on the createx, this is wear the problems are starting. the createx does not seam to be adhering to the kills that i put down as a primer, even though it was ruffed up by sandpaper. i sprayed on the first color and while i was letting it dry, i got sidetracked by other responsibility's. when i came back to finish the painting, i went to lightly rough up the paint before adding other colors to the lure, and while doing so, the paint that was already on the lure started pealing off in sheets off the lure. it was just like unwrapping a piece of candy. what i would like to know is if this is how this paint works, or is their something that i am missing. or better yet, is their a better type of paint that i could try using. any help would be appreciated.
  2. hay guys, cut out another lure out of oak today and tried somthing different. befor i added any weitht to the lure, i just put the hooks on and set it in the water. to my suprise, the lure floted properly in the water without adding any lead to it. johnytheboy, the lure that i am trying to make is the 8" b-flat from lurebuilding 101
  3. thanks for the info riverman. thats sort of on the lines of what i was thinking. i'll have to cut out another one in the am and try it out. as far as working with oak, its not that dificult of a deal. just use a jig saw to cut out the lure to approx. size and take a drum sander on a router table do all the fine shaping. cut one out today and only took 15 min. to get evrything shaped. then i botched it by adding to mutch weight and saw it sink like a rock.
  4. hay evryone. i have built a few lurs now, and just tried a couple out of oak. the dezines that i have been using are from the lurebuilding 101 web sight. the only problem that i am having is that the floter bait that i am trying to build sinks like a rock when weitht is added like it says. so, i remove weight till the lure flotes, and then it ends up on its side till i put the hooks on it. any info on why this is hapening would be appreciated.
  5. thanks for the info riverman. only ? that i have is if the sealer that you mentioned will hold up to pike teath, and can it be used as a sealing coat over the paint. :
