  1. I had the same problems when I first started out. My problem came from the sealer I was using. I changed up to a sand and sealer and then went with a latex primer and my problem was fixed. Since then I have changed to a base white Laquer paint and skipped the latex primer and it works fine. I used some this winter and spring and really was rough on them and I had no problems with chipping.
  2. Very nice work!! Im a machinsit so I can appreciate that kind of work!! Great job and very interesting!!
  3. for mixing up devcon i use a piece of wire and a bathroom tile, its hard, slick and when you finish a simple squirt of thinner and it wipes clean ready for the next bait.
  4. I was at Norman this past weekend so happy with a new bait I chunked it into the rocks one time... Devcon dented but didnt crack, looks good as new and the water temp was 46 to 48 and the air was much colder, I was impressed b/c it took a good shot and didnt crack so I was pleased. Not saying it will not crack but it takes alot to crack devcon.
  5. Ive never had one to crack, fracture or tear up in anyway..Ive been making baits with them for a couple of years and really like them. The .032 is the size I use and it will do the trick. Lexan is good as well, just depends on what you like. To each his own I guess you could say.
  6. Question... just made a few new baits, took one to the lake yesterday. It did great, threw nice everything worked well, but I would like just a little more wobble.Kind of tight now. I have a few more ready for paint and to glue lips in so I cant change angle of lip slot. If I move the line tie toward the body will that increase the wobble or decrease the wobble.? I know that will affect the depth of the bait but these are new type shallow bait and thats not a real big issue for me as of now. Just wondering which way to go with the line tie so I dont have to glue another lip in and waste another bait if it isnt what Im wanting.. Thanks
  7. Let him do his thing and you do yours. After a few trips to the lake look at your nice baits that you have took the time to do right and look at his that dont have any paint left on them. Its hard enough for me to keep mine out of the rocks long enough to keep a clear coat on mine much less no clear coat at all. For gods sake clear coat them!! :-D
  8. The fishing expo I think is name of it. I believe its going to be at the Graham building at the fairgrounds.
  9. Thanks guys!! Looked at his site and yup thats the name I was trying to figure out. He is very talented no doubt. Makes my paint look like my 2nd grade nephew painted mine .. I knew you guys would know who it was. Thanks Blades and Skeeter. By the way Skeeter Im going to Raleigh show to help your friend out at Fat Ratz this weekend. Should be a good show maybe if you can make it stop by and say hello. Thanks again guys!!!
  10. The shop is actually at Lake Norman. I work there and drive a long ways to work so it will be tough for me to get by there and take a pic. Thought it would be cool to get some very good paint jobs on a few of my baits. I can paint ok but nothing like the guy that painted these baits. His name or hers was so small I couldnt make it out but it looked like a S. and then maybe H something. Thanks Blades, maybe I can send you some to paint. I hear you are very talented as well. Thanks guys!
  11. Hey guys, just saw some really nice paint jobs at a local tackle store. The baits were very good and I would like to get this guy to paint some for me. The tackle owner wouldnt give the name up but his name on the side of the bait looked like maybe ...S. Hoor..?? Does anyone know who this is and how I can get in touch with him? Thanks in advance..
  12. Very nice work!! True art!!!
