I hope you guys can answer this for me but I have been hearing about basswood lately and was wondering how easy is it to work with (can exacto knives be easily used for detail) and where can I get it? I've been experimenting with different designs in my pool now and I don't like how hard it is to carve the fine details, but don't want to use balsa due to the bouyancy of it. Thanks Chris

When my dad first presented the idea of making my own lures I though okay real easy. Now I've been reading a lot of your guys posts and wow its not so easy. Well I ordered some stuff a couple days ago. I got two of these in three inches http://www.staminainc.com/plug_hardware/shadbodies.html. Two different sized screw eyes. Some size 6 short shank trebs and size 4 regular shank trebs. This lip http://www.staminainc.com/plug_hardware/metal_plug_bills.html size 1. Some mounting screws and that's it. Can you guys help me out with this and hopefully I can start making my owns stuff if I decide I like doing this. Also how do I make my own blanks out of balsa. How is the balsa cut, what kind of tools, etc. And what do I need to paint my blanks. Chris
