  1. I highly recommend getting it from Zeiner's: M-F Manufacturing Plastic They're much cheaper than ordering direct and have great customer service. Also, they can get everything MF offers, so just because it isn't listed on the website doesn't mean they don't carry it or can't get it.
  2. ?? Yes they do. Strike King 3X Plastic Baits Zulu Also try Google, "strike king zulu" reveals at least 4 places to buy them in the first 10 results.
  3. Not trying to beat a dead horse...but here's the way I'm seeing it: Quote from Smallie: The keyword is difference. Yes the pressure does increases by approximately .43psi per foot. However, because the increase in pressure is constant, the "difference between the upward and downward forces acting on the bottom and top of the cube[bait]" is constant...therefore the bouyancy is constant - regardless of depth. So a bait that suspends at 1' should suspend at 100' as long as the temperature is equal - which it never will be.
  4. Thanks for the replies. I did as Nova suggested and poured around the whole mold half. I ended up with pretty good results with the exception of an air bubble in one corner...I should be able to correct this in a POP mold. For those of you who've been a member a while you may remember, this was a Charlie Little's Frog Mold. When the plastic had cooled I noticed the mold had broken completely into three pieces. It all started near the center where charlie left his "stamp" for his molds. The clearance between the bottom of the mold and the bottom of the frog was only 1/8". If you have one of these molds, be very very careful.
  5. Hey TU Members, it's been a while since I last posted, but am just starting to get back into tackle making. Today, I started to attempt to make a master of my favorite mold by pouring wax into it to get a master. Well it wouldn't release so in fear of breaking the mold I heat the wax to melt it out. In doing so the mold half developed a few heat stress cracks. The mold is still whole, but I don't trust pouring in it, and don't want to risk losing it. My question is how should I go about making a master. The mold is made from some form of plaster, either POP, durham's or something similar, and sealed with envirotex lite. Would the safest route be to make a box around each half of the mold with acrylic, then pour rtv to get a negative of each mold half. Then I can pour RTV or POP over the RTV negatives to get something similar to the original mold. Would this work?
  6. Does Durhams or the Ultracal give better detail than plaster of paris? Where can i pick them up?
  7. jm, I'm using Plaster of Paris from Home Depot. You've given me an idea on why I'm getting so much chalk... I'll try the 'fix' and report back.
  8. I've been experimenting with plaster molds for awhile now. But all my top halfs end up being extremely chalky. Also you can dent them by applying a small amount of pressure. Any ideas on what would cause this?
  9. Dink, went to a BassmasterU earlier this year, and this was one of the major topics. Most of the pros agreed that would rarely ever use flourocarbon for cranking or for spinnerbaits. The reason being is that it has no stretch. Alot of times we tend to set the hook to quick while crankin' or spinnin' and end up pulling the bait away from the fish... Mono gives that extra stretch in the line so you don't feel the fish as quick as you would with flouro or braid, and therefore you set the hook later. This came directly from KVD and Jimmy Houston. I don't have any personal experience with flouro though. Hope this helps.
  10. Sweet looking bait. I've gotta ask though, where did that fish come from? By the way it looks, I think it would of eaten anything.
  11. I dont have any experience with this, but would MF's Flourescent Chartreuse non-bleed (3323) color work?
  12. Sorry, didn't clarify myself. I have no problem with people who make molds from other baits (senkos, beavers, etc) and then pour their own baits. Also I see nothing wrong with copying and selling a bait that has no patent. The only problem I saw here was someone copied nearly everything...the bait AND the packaging. That would be like selling your Senkos with GYCB logo. But instead using your name. To me that's wrong. Sorry I didn't mean to sound like I was flaming in my last post.
  13. Anyone see the guy on E-bay who's made copies of these baits? Even copied the packaging exactly...some people have no dignity. Sorry for the rant... If I could afford paying $12 for shipping I would be getting some too.
  14. Yep I know what you mean. How much shrinkage are you getting? I don't remember getting any.
