  1. Hi Guys. I'm usually on the Hard Bait forum, but I got a request from a customer in Wyoming, if I knew anything about a soft plastic bait used for fishing Speckaled Trout and Redfish in the Gulf, by the name of Flury or Fury produced by Eagle Bait. My company name is EagleLures and this is why he thought I produced them. I said I would do some research for him and try to help if I could. Have any of you heard of this bait at all? If so, how do we contact the company for product? Any help would be greatly appreciated.... Thanx and Merry Christmas everyone. Oldthunder EagleLures.com
  2. Thanx Fatfingers. That was the site... Oldthunder EagleLures Life is too short.....FISH HARD!!!
  3. Can someone help me here. There was a website posted awhile ago, from a college I think, that had an excellent selection of baitfish pictures on it that could be used for this purpose. Does anyone remember it? I did a search but cannot find it.... Oldthunder Life
  4. Thanx for that tip McDano. I did not know that. That's what I love about this site, you learn something new everyday..... Oldthunder EagleLures Life is too short.....FISH HARD!!!
  5. I shoot automotive pearls in clear coat with no problemo. Automotive pearls are very fine though but give awesome effects..... Oldthunder EagleLures Life is too short.....FISH HARD!!!
  6. How about glazing putty. It is an automotive body shop repair product. Very simple and easy to use. Not expensive either. Comes in many sized containers. Sandable and shapes nicely. It fills in shallow holes or indentations of 1/8". I use it alot to smooth both plastic and wood baits before sealing and painting. Have never had a problem with it when applied correctly..... 11. GEEEEESH!!!! Like I said about the other two, they gotta be real. Put some water on that puppy would ya. Congrats on another extremely excellent lure and finish. Thanx for sharing..... Oldthunder EagleLures Life is too short.....FISH HARD!!!!!
  12. I have noticed that the final positioning of screw eyes in wooden baits is not always the same. The conventional way of lining up your screw eyes was to position them "vertically" down the centre line of the bait. That is to say that you can look through the screw eye if you held the bait up to look at it. I think that 100% of commerical lure manufacturers position their eyes in this manner. Some guys have given their screw eyes an additional 1/2 twist, so the eye is now "horizontal" with the center line of the bait. My question is....is there any advantage to lure performance or hooking power with the eye positioned horizontally. I'm sure most of you guys would not be doing this if you hadn't experimented with it and found something advantageous. I'd like to hear from both sides of the screw eye issue. Oldthunder EagleLures. 13. Holy Moly!!! Did these guys just jump out of the lake or what??? Give yourself a pat on the back and the rest of us will change another color of green for envy. Excellent stuff!!! Oldthunder EagleLures Life is too short.....FISH HARD!!!!
  14. I agree with Dean!!! These are some of the VERY best lures I've seen on this site. Now, of course, I'm partial to blue and have caught alot of trophy pike on this colour pattern..... If there are sour grapes among us who have something personal against a certain member, Heaven Forbid, then we all need to take a close look at ourselves. If you are only here for amusement and to play practical jokes on members who work hard at this craft, then I don't believe you are needed here..... Maybe try another site and leave this one to people who enjoy what they do and are proud enough of their efforts to show them in the gallery. Dean, thank you for pointing this out. I have posted my first comment in the gallery and rated Fatfingers lures as well. This is the BEST site out there for luremaking. Let's keep it that way..... Oldthunder EagleLures. Small, medium, large

Absolutely awesome!!!! Excellent fit and finish. In my favourite colour too or should I say, the colour that most all trophy pike like. A true lure artist. My hat goes off to you. 2 THUMBS UP!!!!
  16. I have been using a similar product for the past year that "b75nweav" talks about.I found it at Michaels' and it works perfectly. You just cut to match your lure shape and size, then conform it around the bait. Holds it shape and you can paint with it indefinitely. You clean it with solvent and you're good to go again. The product is called Wireform and it is a 100% aluminum mesh. You can buy it in varying mesh sizes for whatever you need. From 1/16" up to 1/4" I believe. Cuts very well with heavy duty scissors. One tip you ya though, I found that spraying a coat of clear over the bait before installing the mesh prevents scratching and marking of the underpaint from the aluminum mesh..... Good fishin' Oldthunder. Life is too short.....FISH HARD!!!
  17. I finally gave up on this whole idea. I was patient and waited and waited for a small, 3 gallon compressor to FINALLY come on sale at a local retail outlet. I paid a whopping $64.95 for this 3 gallon Jobmate compressor. It was on sale for 50% off. IT WORKS MINT. Finally, no more pulsating air brush compressor for me....YIPEEEEE!!! 18. Fatfingers......I haven't had a chance to try yet. Just got out of hospital today after a week's stay...AARRGGHH...... I can't wait to try, probably this weekend. I have an idea for a jig based from your design only with a twist to incorperate the lip angle. I'll let you know how it turns out. Promise..... 19. Thanx tinman, that's the one I was looking for. I appreciate your effort Palmetto Balsa, but Fatfinger's method seems alot easier and us old guys like it easy. The easier the better. Thanx alot guys. God Bless, Oldthunder Life is too short.....FISH HARD!!!!!
  20. Hey guys: I think that Fatfingers posted a jig that he made for bending lexan. I cannot find it when I do a search. Anybody besides me remember this? It may not have been Fatfingers. Thanx, Oldthunder Live is too short....FISH HARD!!!
  21. Recieved my hook tubing today from Doug Cool. This stuff is awesome. For the price you can't beat it. It is excellent for protection from the hooks especially when shipping lures to customers. If any of you guys are looking for hook tubing, I highly reccommend Doug.... Oldthunder www.eaglelures.com Life is too short.....FISH HARD!!!!!
  22. Thanx StoneColdTackle. I ordered tubing from sgcool this evening. I've been looking for a supplier for a long while now. Thanx again, Oldthunder www.eaglelures.com Life is too short.....FISH HARD!!!!
  23. Vodkaman.....I love this and I for one will be sorry to see you go to Malaysian if it means you'll be leaving TU... There are many things I do not understand about what you are trying to explain but the great thing about you is, you'll always provide a reference. As a lure builder myself and one who does have his own business, I am always intrigued by the process and the difficulty lure making brings. There are SOOOO many variables. I am desparately trying to wrap my head around the "hunting lure" thing. The more I can read and learn, the better. There is so little time for me to learn these things because of my terminal illness but that is not the issue here. The issue is your learning curve and process as a lure maker. I am most happy that you CANNOT plug a mathematical equation in and come up with the "perfect lure". Where's the creative process in that? I am very thankful that I found TU and that members like Vodkaman, Skeeter, Tally, Dean McClain and others share what knowledge they have with the rest of us..... Again thanx for working the grey matter between my ears. The smoke detectors are going off as we speak..... Oldthunder www.eaglelures.com Life is too short....FISH HARD!!!!
  24. Sorry guys, but I don't want to get into another hobby and all the equipment for melting and pouring my own weights. I'd rather not do this. I forgot to mention, in my original post, that the weights have to have a hook eye on them. Like I said, I am using hollow lead sinker material now and utilize 3/32" stainless steel cotter pins for the hook eyes. Saves me from getting into pouring but still labour intensive when you are looking at doing 200 lures. Thanx for the info so far gang. Keep it comin'....
