  1. Blast from my past! I don't know why the photo's disappeared. I don't have them in any files so I guess all is lost.
  2. Hey folks, been awhile so thought I would stop by and see what everybody's up to these days. Haven't fished much or done any lure making the last few years. Have to see if I can fix that.

    Hey

  4. Hi Gene, I finally had to re-sharpen my knife the other day
  5. Hi ya'll it's me CrawChuck. I haven't been around for a long time and was wondering if anybody I know is still here? Glad ya'll like the tutorial and sorry I was disappeared for awhile.

  7. Some have emailed and/or called to check on my whereabouts for which I am thankful. Wanted to officially let everyone know I'm officially out of making lures except for maybe a few to fish with. A tournament fishing buddy of mine has all my stuff and will be using my lures for his own benefit. I'm off into some various internet marketing things to bring about some goal reaching and lures wasn't cutting it! Seems like I'm on the right path now and will soon be retiring from my sewer plant job. Still fish'n. CrawChuck
  8. Who's CCLC? I'll drive to their house and redeem myself!
  9. Here's a little update on a couple of easy tricks. These clamps are around $4 for several of different sizes in a bag at Wal Mart and work great to hold the molds together. The little plastic cup is easy to form a small pourspout on by squeezing the cup together a little at the rim and holding a bic lighter close to the inside edge for just a second or two and the spout will form nicely for pouring. I use two cups when pouring, alternating them and find it works out just right witht the cure time so the stuff hardens in the cup for the next pour. Got some regular Alumilite Black in the mail today which is supposed to have a faster cure time than RC-3. Will post later on the results.
  10. Welcome Big Al. Hope you're still here despite the warm welcome. How's the Musky baits coming along?
  11. Welcome Liquid Creativity! That's some name for sure! Anyway, I can maybe help you make some molds if you can't wait for the tutorials to come back. I have another moldmaking tutorial posted here... http://www.texasfishingforum.com/cgibin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=028475 Not sure but you might have to join the forum to see it.
  12. Welcome Mullet Maffia! Tons of folks sell jigs made from do-it molds. Problem would be making a mold from do-it shapes and selling the mold as yours or counterfiet do-it's. Those racks of homemade baits you see in tackle shops were likely poured from do-it molds or some other.
  13. That will be cool to have. All I have is a shale pit. The water is crystal clear but now it's full of hydrilla! Good for testing in the winter though. Maybe I could borrow the neighbor's pool!
  14. Dang guys, the smaller craw catches bigger fish! Something else I learned today...just cast it and reel it! Fast, slow, alternate, doesn't matter. Fish slam it! http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/1913/hpim05890bh.jpg http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/8408/hpim05909yw.jpg http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/4162/hpim05919oa.jpg
  15. That's pretty slick Shawn! I can see lot's of possibilities for this and will give it a try soon. I used to have a bunch of patterns for my wood crankbaits, same style in different sizes but they have been lost over the years I wasn't making lures. It will be neat if it keeps all the fine detail. Thanks.
  16. About PETA? Are they just a bunch of activists spouting off or do they actually have any clout? Are decisions being made that will affect our lives, our fishing and luremaking because of their actions? Do they really have any lawful say in anything?
  17. Ever since I got here somebody's been telling me PETA was going to get me, LOL! Mostly in the soft plastics dept. but hey...it's my right to use whatever is available on this earth and I kill em quick! No suffering...anyway yeah, that Alumilite is the same as the slip mold tutorial and right after it pops out of the mold it takes a screw easy but not so easy after it hardens a bit. That's the main reason for the pins in the mold to make a screw hole. I think I'll stick to making ugly baits that catch fish and people don't mind using them. There's so many beautiful baits on this site by so many super talented folks it's unbelievable. But then LaPala said that and caused me to wonder. Are ya'll using those baits and do they catch fish. Sure would be nice to see some fish with those awesome lures hanging! ps...I would love to go on a Tuna trip!
  18. Here's the newest addition. I was saving RTV till I saw how the bigger one worked. That wasn't the only fish caught today so this lure will come in many sizes before it's over. So the big question...why no lip? Craws don't wobble! It's Alumilite RC-3 Black and the action is on bottom, darting straight backwards like a real craw does trying to escape predators. For the PETA's...It might have been a real live craw and it might have been a shed moult like I used in the soft plastics mold tutorial!!! I'm not telling and nobody can tell the difference or prove otherwise...HA! In any case it took six and one-half hours just to prep the skins for the molding process. Way too much involved and delicate to make a tutorial, for me anyway! These will go to KC Dano to squirt then to eBay auction. I need a good web site for cheap! LaPala...I will fish with it and take some pics (the pretty one) as I know it's gonna catch fish!
  19. What's CrawChuck without a hard craw lure! My latest slip mold result from a real craw. And the sweet trial run! Nothing like it eh!!! Gotta throw this in. My first attempt at Devcon a lure. Made by La Pala I think, molded by Coley and painted by KC Dano. To pretty to fish with!
  20. Nice baits! I tried the Devcon for the first time yesterday on a bait Coley gave me and I really like it alot. Also I think when somebody sends baits to be painted or finished they ought to send some extra for the artist!
  21. Welcome and nice lures!
  22. Nice bait! I like that old paint style we talked about at the gathering some. Supposed to be the best ever done! Good Job!!!
  23. If the Dremmel "looks" ideal then I'm thinking you are seeing it doing what you would like to do in your mind. With the proper bits it will handle any wood you put it on. Some like the belt sander for initial takedown and then on to the dremmel for fine detailing. I've used a dremmel for years on everything you can imagine...it will do it!
