  1. You guys made 'em feel so bad they shut down. #####s Just loaded for me (staminainc.com) I've noticed they have several URL's, might try another.
  2. The old saying you get what you pay for holds true with all types of tools. A cheap airbrush won't have the spit and polish that a good one will, and it might never become evident to the person if they give up. A well machined and polished brush, needle and nozzle will allow the paint to flow through the brush smoothly, and cause less problems, parts will be easy to find, and won't be so problematic to find that purchasing a new brush will actually be cheaper than replacement parts. There's a thread recently where a guy wanted to find a needle for an off brand brush, $16 plus $10 shipping. It's good practice to replace the nozzle as well, further adding to the cost of retooling his brush, which was an off-brand to start with. Had he bought a name brand off the line, he would have spent the same money, and almost any hobby or art shop would have replacement parts. My recommendation would be to get a Sunday paper, and find the Michael's or similar craft store (if you have one local) coupon, there's always a 40% off one item, sometimes a 50% off, and get the nicest model they have, which is generally a Badger, Omni or Paasche. You'll have a quality brush that you can find spare parts for locally, and will last forever if maintained correctly, and while their prices are higher off the bat, the coupon more than makes up for it. That being said, I do like my Iwata brushes, but this site is living testament that it's the knucklehead holding the brush, not the brush itself that does much of anything, providing you get a quality tool.
  3. Well said, Ted. I've seen some folks complain about just about every vendor as well, so some folks can never be happy, no matter what.
  4. More than likely they just found a loophole in his cart software that allowed them to add their banner image. If the intent was to steal credit card numbers, they'd have to be a whole lot smarter than finding what is probably a published loophole, and taking advantage of software not updated yet, then they more than likely wouldn't have left a message. I may be wrong on this, but I think Del uses Paypal to run CC's, so at best they could find your address from his site.
  5. I'd like to go to work today, but my Jeep won't let me, so I have to work on it instead There's always next year, heh
  6. It's too late now, but I was given a great piece of advice by Kellure when I started airbrushing...to buy whatever brand I preferred, but make sure I can get the parts local. If this is a hobby you want to continue doing, you might want to save up and find another brush that you can get spare parts for locally. A good number of the 'off brand' brushes are copies of the name brands, as well. Once you get your new stuff, compare them to name brand parts, you might find that one fits. On another note - I've had good luck with some places by calling them, and telling them i though that their shipping was way too high for what I was ordering, and some have lowered it for me. Doesn't always work, and you get a lot of handling explanations, but it's paid off for me over time. I always tell them that Priority Mail is $4.60, and the box is free, and I'll give them $5 for shipping
  7. Collins makes the finest mold available.
  8. Kim at Lurecraft has the best prices on the eyes (in 100 quantity)
  9. I'll read/respond where I want to, thanks, but you've gotten the same response as I've given, just sugar coated. Put forth a little effort, you'd be surprised at what you can come up with. If all you ever paint is Bob's scheme, well, you'll forever be one step behind him. Like Palmetto said, it's a basic understanding of colors. If you're not interested in doing any footwork for yourself, you're supposed to be handed the answers? Take my response how you want, but it's the only method to becoming adept at painting, or, well, anything.
  10. Yes, but you asked how to paint silver, gold and firetiger...all but one come in a bottle, but are better done with foil.
  11. I don't mean to sound like too much of a #####, but what, in the end, would you gain from someone telling you exactly how something is done? Buy a paint kit and a color wheel if it helps, and start poking around. It'll help you learn your own schemes, and if something ever goes wrong, you'll have a clue as to what to do. The guys that paint a great bait didn't read it out of a book, they practiced. Just ask Kellure, Blades, Blackjack, and on and on.
  12. Be wary of removing the tape later, if an edge appears, it's an in for water to wick itself in.
  13. Trust me, I understand completely! Like I said, I'm still waiting myself, part of that is my laziness, but not really. Once I pay, it's on them to provide the goods. There really is no excuse, I'm pretty much out of ideas, just trying to keep someone's name from being dragged through the mud, although some probably deserve it.
  14. Very nice looking, Craig waka! waka!
  15. I've waited and waited on molds, still waiting on one I ordered in August. They always come, though. The important thing to remember is that these folks do this as a side job, machine time is valuable, and there isn't a single mold cutter that does that full time that i'm aware of, should give you a hint to the amount of money they're really making. But yes, it is aggravating for them to have your money, and you have squat. I would contact the person/place in question before smearing any names, though, there might be a good reason, might not.
  16. You left out a lot of pertinent details, I assume it's a 2-piece, since you say it's not running. How well is it vented? Have you considered pouring the tails, then closing the mold, and pouring the rest? If all this fails, an injection, or vacuum machine is in order
  17. Paint choices are as individual as choosing boxers or briefs, be sure to try several out before you settle on one, or several, types. Also be wary of the hazards with each paint system, and take appropriate precautions. One more thing to think of is the time factor, of all the paints mentioned, HOK needs to be coated within a time frame, or you run the risk of delamination, it's also the most toxic of the bunch. On the other hand, they do have a new enamel system out, designed for modelers, and using most of the colors in the standard line, but that's about as familiar as I am with it.
  18. I really think the idea at it's core is a good one, but this is a train wreck waiting to happen.
  19. I assumed he was gonna use it to seal the bait with, Bob. Only reason I could think of!
  20. You have to remove the tape. It only takes a minute, and tape is cheap.
