  1. Before I sold the business my bait was called the Eager Beaver. Didn't have a clue any part of that belonged to someone else. I did get an e-mail and I did change the name.
  2. I don't make many frogs but the few I have made I used MF super soft plastic. I've used the bubbles as well but found depending on how much you use, you may have to adjust the colors you use as the bubbles tend to change the color or the bait some.

    Fluke Mold?

Nice bait. I have all of LC's fluke molds and I haven't had any complaints from my customers.
  4. You can make that core shot or blood line as we call it here using the Lee Production Pot. For me its easier to control the speed at which I slide the mold under the spout and how much plastic I need to dispense to make that line. Its not all bad to let that line extend to the outer edges of the mold which make for some interesting looking baits. A good example would be the flirt worms made by Reaction Innovations.
  5. I use Mend-it as well. My partner discovered another one recommended by Roland Martin, Pro's Soft Bait Glue. Its 10.29 for a half ounce bottle. They have a website with the same name if you want to check it out.
  6. I use these pots and agree the heat controls are not reliable at all, but with some practice they can be controlled. First I use a thermometer in the pot that tells me when the temp is rising and second I keep the pots as full as possible which keeps the temperature at a more predictable setting. I called Lee about these thermostats and like everything else they are made out of the country and Lee has no control on how they are made. According to them the quality has gone down the toilet. But for them there apparently is no other option. Personally I still think its the best option if your not making a ton of baits.
  7. Nova, thankyou sir. I haven't tried your recipe for this yet but will first thing tomorrow. I had the green pumpkin part right but then it was a lost cause after that.
  8. I found the Zoom recipe for their green pumpkin in the cook book but after making it, it doesn't have the oxbood or brownish look of the color in their baits as in the small lizard they make, and I assume all of Zoom's green pumpkin is the same. So has anybody been able to tweek the recipe in the book or Del's recipe which calls for 6 drops of watermelon and 6 drops of pumpkinseed to 4 ounces of plastic? I would post a picture but its not going to show correctly. Thought maybe someone had a Zoom bait laying around to see what I mean. Thanks
  9. Haven't used either of those formulas but thinking to much heat.
  10. Its been mentioned before but here goes. Take the base off the pot and turn it around and mount it back on. Then build a platform out of wood or something and make it high enough so the mold will fit underneath the pot and the spout. Allow a little room so you can see the plastic flow from the nozzle. This also allows you to room to top off the holes as the plastic strinks. These pots hold 12oz so if your pouring a lot of the same you can keep the pot topped off and as you said the weight of the plastic is more than enough to keep it flowing. If your like me you probably don't have enough 2 piece molds to drain 1 8 ounce pot in 1 round anyway. And keep everything stirred up to keep things consistent.

    Tube Mold

Horizontal dipping is another option. Its nothing more than a small loaf pan, some metal rods and a hot plate and of course the plastic, glitter etc. It is labor intensive but does make some nice tubes. There's info on that on this site.
  12. I like them all, but B probably the best. Also easier to pour I would imagine.
  13. I think the weather in different parts of the country has a different effect on the plastic. I flip the molds, sprinkle them with salt, pour another round (usually 10 molds or so), scoop up the salted ones, take them in the house and my wife bags them and its done. I think once or twice I've had baits set up funny and get a bend in them and for what reason I don't know. If they are a straight color I just cook them again. I let them set over nite if I don't need right away.
  14. Anybody made this color? Guess I'll be making a bunch of these. Need to get it right the first time. Thanks in advance.
