Nice batch of lures!

Thanks guys,
Mark I used an HVAC foil with mylar wrapping paper over it. I have tried all sorts of things. I am a beginner with plastics. Not sure if this helps with your question

Jed, I use to be an avid steelheader, actually obsessed with it! I use to work a hundred yards from a nice steelie river. I would fish before , at lunch and after work before we had kids. I am very lucky to have all sorts of fishing less than 1 hour from my house. Walleye , perch, musky , pike, bass, and steelhead. I have the steelhead bug for some reason this year. I was thinking the same thing for these minnows. How is the steelheading out west? Are they ocean run steelies?

Green fingers it is dipped. I took some foil and rolled it then dipped it 3 times. The eyes went on before the third dip. I got to try some last weekend on Lake Erie and caught some nice perch.

JK, I did use the skin first and then coated it with epoxy. I did 2 bandsaw cuts after it dried to scoop out the face area and then I added the cheek and gill plates and then 4 more coats of epoxy to get back to smooth. Did some highlite face details and then 2 more coats. What was I thinking! LOL

That is amazing. Very nice

The bodies are out of resin. The thru hole is a pain in the but. You have to pull the wire out of the body at just the right time before the resin gets to hard. You have to burnish the inside of the hole so it doesn't damage the fishing line over time. That is done with a smaller pc of wire in a drill.

I really really like the bait. The colors are excellent!

Very nice. I like the bottom one the best. It looks like a golden shinner.

Thanks guys,
Matt as I build up the epoxy coats on the lures it slowly gets covered. The epoxy kinda whicks itself under the wire. As the wheel spins it evens out.

Thanks guys for the kind words. I do take alot of pride in them just like everyone else that makes the lures.
Mark I am still laughing about the "women can't make up their mind" comment on the trout bait! LOL
Mark this one took about 4 hours to make over a months time! LOL Alot of steps in between things. Do a little and let it dry kinda thing! Stare at it for 4 hours thinking "what I should do next?" Stare at it some more........etc.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. There are so many great luremakers here. I know I don't post a whole lot. I am still learning more and more with each lure. I have many that go down dead-ends! I have them all in a box to remind me what not to do!
I just go through the gallery of all the luremakers and just can't believe the talent that is here. AMAZING! There are so many styles and techniques it is truely incredible. I love watching how individuals up their level of luremaking with each and every new one they make.
I know I go a little overboard with the lures but I enjoy it and it helps me get away from the stresses of everyday life.
Everyone have a safe and happy holiday season!

Man that is nice Jed!!!!!!!!!

Heck no Rofish! I love to fish them. I have trouble doing the firetigers and other types of patterns. I just figure if the fish eat other fish why not make them look like the feed. The collectors like to get ahold of them for the wall. I wish more of them would hit the water. I try to make all of them as running baits first and then paint the pattern.

Thanks guys, I do find it relaxing to do the lures. I can go into my room in the basement and get away from the stresses of everyday life for a while. I think you learn a little more with each lure you do. I have learned so much from the people here on this site. Believe me I have boxes of mistakes ready for the burn pile!
I do love doing the fades for sure. But better yet the hobby store likes them more with all the paint I waste. I called testors paint company and asked if they sell paint other than in those little bottles. They said only in five gallon buckets. I will stay with my little bottles!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
Stop it Rookie! LOL You know I am going to get down there and have you really show me how to paint!!!!!
