  9. about 10-15 yrs ago ago a worm manufacturer stated that EPA was thinking about doing something about the polution of our waters 1. outboards and 2. plastic fishing baits. they decided to work on the outboards first. the results today are the presents of alot of 4stroke outboards and fuel injection 2strokes. i have been told that it is almost impossible to find new 25hp 2stroke merc outboards(gheenoe forum). 4stroke outboards may be in the future for all of us. just a matter of time before EPA jumps on the plastic bait manufacturers(MHO). point being,it may be in the future of all of us to find alternative products for our plastic baits. maybe some of the bigger plastic bait manufacturer may want to pipe in.
  10. thinking of purchasing a newer rig. during my search,i am seeing alot of rebuilt power heads. especially EFI s. anyone on the forum blown the power heads on their 150-200hp newer outboards? list the brands,yr,type of fuel delivery,HP etc. thought it would be interesting to do our own consumer report. now, lets see if this post will pass the political correctness test. thanks pete
  11. old school. how did the ceramic bearings work out? i want to add them to my 4600cb light casts. where to buy? the ceramic bearings on ebay from china any good? ....................thanks pete
  12. how do you say red shad. culprit worms started the laminate craze by accident. they were trying to pour worms with a tail of contrasting color(the colors were pushed from each end of the mold). early injection molds were vertical and they did it that way. culprit custom made a horizonal injection mold and when they tried to reproduce contrasting color tail, presto the laminate worm(started in a home garage just like many on TU). that was the birth of the laminate worm. wasnt long the entire nation wanted the shad colors(laminate). now, that being said. that is the eternal question do you have to sell the customer or the fish first. but the avid fishermen in fla know that a laminate red shad worm can be a real killer on bedding bass.
  13. bass pond did you ever get in on the red shad culprit that were culls because they were too dark. they were the real killers on the kissimme chain during the spawn. point being did you ever try to duplicate in hand pours. it was like the black over powered the red. they were great baits. any ideas on a formula?(hand pour).........................thanks....pete
  14. killer in salt water. tomato/chartreuse...........
  15. there was an article in a magazine many years ago (in the dinosaur days) addressing polishing gears and bearing in baitcast reels. they used toothpaste and added to the gears and bearings to make the old ambassateurs cast more smoothly. it is not as abrasive as lapping compound. a linewinding machine was used to turn the reels to lap the gears and bearings. the reels were cleaned and reoiled. made the reels much smoother.......................pete
