paint brush bristles

thanks Ben.
something interesting- I test swim the baits prior to finishing and after the fins are attached the swimming action is much better. more stable head sway. I think the fins are adding just enough resistance to tighten the swimming action without killing it. might ask vodkaman what he thinks.

it no longer exists. don't have a new one yet.

sold on Ebay. should do well. had nice action.
-
fished ones like it. sold that one to a member here.

I took the website down Ben. it was not working right and I didn't know how to make corrections. think i'll try another site host and get it going again.

I did on the crappie. the others I had already painted the scale pattern on.
a note: the slightest wrinkle in the tissue will show up when you paint over it. dark color not so bad, light colors it is more easy to see.

not for me. special order for a guy on the east coast. maybe big hammerheads
-
typically 8 hours to do a bait.
-
hand painted with brushes
-
fins made from paint brush bristles and then detailed with a sharpie
-
very nice! let us know how you do with it.
-
where did you get them? really nice looking baits!
-
i just started the resin fins this winter but they are essentially the same as the carved hard fins i've been putting on baits and have had no problems.
-
looks good to me. better than my first try.
-
very nice looking poppers.
-
i agree, very nove. is it painted over foil?
-
very nice work Jeep. like the last one best. have you tried using the fibetts inserted into the bait for the pectoral fins and the pelvic fins as well as the others?
-
yes, that concept has been around for a long time. i use to have a bait with the top hook screwed to the bait. it had to have been from the 50's or earlier. should have saved it

Great looking lure, very unique. I love the idea of the magnet, never thought of that. Musky Glenn
have done it on a few lures. works out well. i just ordered some more.
-
nice job. i like the color scheme. i don't use a drying wheel.i hold the bait by the line tie with a small pair of visegrips to apply the appoxy and then just hang it up by the line tie.
making the first joint closer to the front may help the swimming action

leave it alone! looks great the way it is.

hand carved from PVC material. hand painted with brushes.

1) Rookie,
working on a topwater model with the hooks on the underside to see how it will perform. my thinking is that if i can get it to float with the majority of the body under water than it may swim but will have to do a trial and error with this theory.
2) Rofish,
waiting to hear on that after some actual trials. i used 2 magnets for each hook to increase the holding power. i can hold the lure by the magnet without it coming loose but not sure how a long cast will do.
the weight was approx. 5oz. on each lure.
the magnets would pull the hooks from about 3/4" away so i'm thinking that if they came disloged the retrive would cause the hooks to rotate around and reattach. will find out.
was also thinking of perhaps a small clip to hold the shank? guess thats what is called 'research & development'. hey! those guys make a lot of money, don't they?
