  1. If i were to buy all the tools needed to paint my own hardbaits, what would that consist of? I am not rich, but i believe that if you buy the best you can that it will be best in the long run. So from start to finish, if i were serious about painting my own cranks, and I was not afraid to spend a few $$, what would I need and how much? Not looking for a starter kit, I would want good stuff and all the tools needed to paint, paint itself, clear coats, detailing, etc. Thanks
  2. Hand pour. Tails need to be cut but it is easy to do.
  3. The tube on the left is a bps and mine is on the right. IThe bps tube is a standard 4 inch. I think they call it a magnum tube.
  4. It is tapered. I had the mold done custom based on the specs from the Bass Pro Shops Tubes.
  5. Sorry, I meant not more than 15-20 lures made on it.
  6. Don't really use tube mold much anymore. Mold was used not more than 15 times and it cost $144 new. $100 TYD.
  7. I have a crankbait I wish to take the BB's out of. It is a clear colored crankbait where I can see the BB's/ I want to keep the balls used as weights and remove the BB;s that are used as rattles. After I drill into the lure and remove the BB's, is there a good/clear epoxy I can use to seal up the hole? What else must i do to the lure after that?
  8. Any ideas on what to tie the guard to in regards to tying it back?
  9. What kind of wire do you use and where can I get it?
  10. I tried making my jigs a little last year and I found it frustrating. I want to try again. The only problem is I don't want to pour my own lead. I know I want to use wire to wrap the skirts instead of thread or those rubber collars that go after a while. Is there a method for tying the skirts while the weedguard is still in? Or would it be best to rip the weedguard out and then put another back in later? If the latter is the case, what would be the best method to re-insert the weedguard? Thanks
  11. I can't seem to get my tubes to be a little thicker. I always pour in 4 oz. increments. I added about 1/2 teaspoon of hardener and the tubes come out the same as the ones without any hardner. I use LC's medium plastic. I am also letting the baits sit for a day.
  12. Hello all. I am going to start tying my own bass jigs this winter. I am not interested in making the heads. I am goint to buy them. However, I am curious as to what other supplies I need. I am also going to get a fly-tying vice but I have no idea which one I might need. Also, what other supplies might I need? Is there a book or DVD out there just for flying bass jigs? Thanks
  13. Glad to see so much feedback however, I am sorry if i am offending any purists, but i was thinking into just the custom painting part. I would buy bodies and paint my own. i alos have a lot of old lures I don't use. I was looking more for advice on just the painting part. i would like to start there before actaully creating my own baits. Thanks
