i got your back buddy! And as your longtime personal lure advisor, I advise you to keep on talking! I don't know why you're on mod queue, but we all need your sense of humor on this site!

  4. Bagley tried the 2 different light ties to give 1 bait different action and we all know how well that bait sold. I doubt this one will be much of a hit over time.
  5. Gene...Im just curious...if the hump works so good why not just use it all the time. Never understood the expression or saying fisherman use when they say "this is my go to bait when im in a slump or my emergency tacklebox as some pros like to call it. I would think your go to bait would be what you use all the time. if I were you and had that much success with that bait I would start saying this... "break out the hump and never get a slump."
  6. I think they should have titled that book.....MAKE AVERAGE WOODEN FISHING LURES. No advancement in original thought or design from the looks of the cover page of that book. Did the say which clear coat was best to use so your fishing lures were the BETTER. LMAO!
  7. Add a split shot to the back treble hook and it will hunt. IF YOU THINK IT....IT WILL HAPPEN.
  8. All the handmade baits that look like bagley style....dont look like a real bait fish anyway to most fisherman.....but hey they catch fish and the fish have been eating them for years..so do you really think the color of the lip has a darn thing to do about it...I wouldn;t worry about the color of the lip....99 percent of the time is where you cast your bait that determines if your going to catch a fish or not. Just my 2 cents.
  9. Im willing to bet you don't even need a paper clip gekang. Bet you could just take a over sized Split shot and pinch it on. im sure the wire helps hold it in place but lots of things could replace the wire... interesting concept.
  10. Any trained monkey can make a fishing lure....so that is what I did in 2006.
  11. If you use devcon you dont need a drying wheel.. if you need a drying wheel using devcon your applying too much epoxy.. which over time will do nothing more than crack your finish.. if you apply the proper amount of devcon 30 min epoxy all you have to do is put your bait on paper clip and hang it to dry. if you have runs.. you applied too much epoxy. Do 5 or 6 baits with thinner coats and you will get the hang of it.. I have made over 5,000 lures maybe more.. and have yet to ever use a drying wheel. I see why guys have them.. Im just too lazy to make one. Remember in Paint and Clear coat.. THINNER IS BETTER! not thicker. Good luck Tater
  12. AC glue will seal it up and harden up the balsa.. after you put one coat of thin AC glue.. Hobby town Super glue its different than the regular super glue... THIN STUFF!! not Gel.. after it hardens up the bait sand it real good then.. take some Epoxy and coat the wood with that.. then wait 24 hours and sand it again.. then prime it.. if you have some holes or spots.. you can 2 one of two thing... epoxy coat it again and wait 24 more hours.. or get some bondo glazing putty. Glaze the bait with bondo wait 20 mins.lightly sand the bait and prime coat 1 more time..by now you should have a very smooth surface to paint on. You don't have to use AC glue you can just coat the bait with epoxy.. but the AC helps harden the bait and the 2nd coat of epoxy after you put on the AC glue really gives it strength. That is how I do it when I make balsa bait.. learned all this stuff from THE LURE PROFESSOR. It wasn't my idea. Hope this helps. Personally I believe this is the easiest way to seal up the wood without too much trouble. Most of us have AC glue and Epoxy. Good luck DIPSTICKs!
  13. Ask for Hawk! Im only posting this link so guys will stop buying the KO's..THE KO's are JUNK. Did you know that the guys that sell them in the US only paid about .10 to .35 cent per blank and resale them to you for 1 to 2 bucks per blank..all you have to do is go around them too and buy them direct from CHINA!!! GO SUPPORT THEIR ECONOMY SOME MORE.. BUY SOME CHINA BLANKS! KEEP THE FLOW OF MONEY GOING TO CHINA..
  14. Douglas I tried to copy your fins but I just can't DO IT!!! and you even tried to tell me on the phone how to do it.. Their I said it... I feel so much better now.. will you ever forgive me. I miss takin with you call me sometime. I agree with Matt. Why do you want to copy anyone. Im going to be more direct and not as nice as him when I say... . Listen up DIPSTICK! MAKE YOUR OWN DAM DESIGN.. most of the crap your going to copy is junk made in China anyway. And some of the so called HANDMADE STUFF that some of the boys in your home state are selling... IS MADE IN CHINA TOO...they just want you to think its HANDMADE!!!!! So be original and make your own stuff. Pick up some wood and just carve out a shape..it doesn't even have to look like a fish to be successful.. Sure all of us are inspired by someone else in whatever we do... BOB ROSS GIVES ME GOOSE BUMPS! so I make happy looking fishing lures rather than trees..and as I stated before I love the way ROWHUNTER makes his FINS!!! I still can't do it Douglas!. Dont waste your money getting a patent Matt you will spend more money fighting to defend your patent than you will lose by not having one..just my opinion. LO BLOW FRIEND or whatever your name is.. If you want to make some handmade baits that nobody will care that you copied.. Start out making a Flatsided Wooden bait.. with painted on eyes and no detail. That way you will only copy all the other guys that copied the original guy that made a flatside crankbait with painted on eyes...whoever that guy was... see its so non original I can't remember his name. BE ORIGINAL DIPSTICK.. in the end you will sell more more and make more money to support your hobby... Now if you would like to copy one of my designs...(WOOHOOO...HONEY I JUST SOLD ANOTHER 100 DOLLAR LURE)....knock yourself out! you never going to be able to paint fins on it like Douglas can anyway...that takes TALENT! THE ROOKIE
  15. The eye sticking out will not effect the action.. or as BILL DANCE WOULD SAY!!! It just aint so.... Your lip and eye tie placement is 90 percent of the action of the bait. Flat baits are easier to make have a tight wobble.. Round baits are harder.. the eye sticking out might give off a different vib in the water than one not sticking out.. but heck who knows.. it might tick off the fish better. or it might not...or it might.. but leave it to a fisherman to over think something. Good luck
