  1. Hello all, I have dabbled here and there with some lure making on and off for years. I had a scroll saw and a small lathe, and bought some soft plastic molds and stuff for soft plastic. Years ago I made a few topwater prop baits and poppers for small mouth. Now that I have really got into musky fishing, I thought I would try to build some cranks and gliders. I just purchased a bunch of old woodworking equipment from a relative who gave up the hobby about a decade ago. I am really green with most of it. Here is what I got Craftsman 12" Bandsaw - Sander model 113.243311 Delta 10 " Table saw model 34-670 Delta 12 " Planer model 22-540 Craftsman Jointer/planer model 149.236222 Black and Decker Drill Press model 9400 Delta scroll saw model 40-150 Craftsman router model 315317492 craftsman sander model 572.247600 Dremel motoshop 571-5 I have searched and read on here about lip slots. I have cut out a few jake/grandma style baits on the band saw. I got on here looking for info on the lip slot. I found out that I should have cut that before I cut out the lure. What would be the easiest way to cut them now? Does anyone have any plans for a jig for cutting them on the table saw for future use? Thanks Jeff Ross
  2. I would love to have the instructions if you have then in English some where. I also checked out your site. Awesome lures. I would also love to see one of these tutorials for the manta like you made.
  3. Do you have a larger image of this. I can not read it.
  4. I would look at walmart. At my local one in the lawn and garden, they have a rotisserie set for $12 comes with the motor and rods like the one in the tutorials.
  5. I have never used rosewood for lure, but use it a lot for turning pens and other small projects. The above post is correct. The dust is terrible, make sure you wear a mask when working with it.
  6. Have you tried http://www.mooreslures.com/

    9" Wooden Crank Baits

I did not realize they had musky seasons. Here in Virginia, you can fish for them year around!
  8. I have not tried this yet, but it appears to me that some of the colors bled a little on teh tissue paper espically around the head area. Is this a common problem with using tissue paper?
  9. Mooreslures.com has them on page 27 of their online catalog...... and here is another one http://www.staminainc.com/plugs_hardware/tallywacker_tail.html
  10. This looks like part of a video on making a jake... Is the rest of the video on there somewhere also? I can't find it. Would love to see the whole process...
  11. Thanks... I will check him out... I am looking forward to making a few and tryong them out...
  12. I went to make an order at moores and the web site said closed until April! This is another tallywacker tail I found. http://www.upnorthoutdoors.com/stamina/plugs_hardware/tallywacker_tail.html
  13. ?? Now I am kinda confused.... What determines if it is a glide, jerk or hybrid? I am pretty new to musky fishing and only used a handful of different stuff.... I do have a manta, some suicks ect... How is the action different in these? I watch some pool demos on youtube and fishing sites and a lot of times the actions on the baits are similar....and they are called both jerks and glides...
  14. I think I got it.... so the loop in the loop wire will keep the coil from spinning and hold it tight?
  15. Thanks for the advise.... espically the making proto types with different holes.... do you all put the epoxy on the the prototypes and hooks so that it will have the save wight as the finished product? I think I am going to start out making a few wieghtless cranks twitch baits.... That said I just went to moores lure to place an order for a bunch of musky sized lure parts and they are closed until April.... Which other supplier has the best variety of musky sized components?
