  1. The gill detail is phenomenal. Super job!
  2. Yake Bait

    Sucker Pattern

Dual weighted thru wire glide bait. This one is about as close to neutral bouyancy as you can get (difficult to achieve). The bait will rise slowly to the surface and has a nice rocking action when suspending. Recipe is as follows: 8" Upper Michigan Maple body 0.062" thru wire Createx Paints: white belly black base Med scale pattern - Pearl gold(top) Pearl white (bottom) Fine scale patter - Pearl gold mixed wiht pearl silver sunburst orange on the chin Black gill and back hightlights

  4. Demai, The scale patter came off of a box of clementines my wife bought at the grocery store. They use a soft plastic mesh that seems to do a nice job masking off the scale pattern. Got a few other interestign patterns that I will hopefully paint up soon. Pete

    Foiled up!

    Super foil job. Looks great!
  6. Dual weighted thru wire glide bait. Currently has a slight positive bouyance and needs to be tested. Hoping to imitate ciscos flipping up on the surface with this lure. Will add a third coat of epoxy if needed to get desired bouyancy. Recipe is as follows: 8" Upper Michigan Maple body 0.062" thru wire Createx Paints: white belly black base Large scale pattern - Pearl Silver (top) Pearl white (bottom) Fine scale patter - Pearl gold sunburst orange on the chin Black gill and back hightlights White eyes and tail

  9. I use a gravity feed cup for my paint and a larger siphon full of hot water to flush between colors. If the tip of the needle starts to build up, I take the brush apart, clean, then keep going.
  10. Outstanding! The craftsmanship is so good that it would seem you have been doing this for years. If this is the beginning for you, can't wait to see what is to come!
  11. Mark, I have had similar issues with D2T chipping off in big flakes along with the paint job underneath. Came to the conclusion that once a little hook rash gets through the D2T, then water starts to get under the primer coat. More prominant on cedar lures. To combat this I have switched to basswood, and also am pre-coating the bare wood blank with D2T to get an epoxy bond to the wood surface. I then paint above the precoat layer of D2T, then top off with a topcoat of D2T. So far I have not had any issues with chunks after a month of throwing some of this years lures. Gator, As fatfingers says, it definately is tempermental stuff. I tend to use my older tubes (which haves started to yellow) for the base coat and always use a newer tube (noticeably clearer) for the top. Thin with a small amount of acetone after you mix and it will go a long way to reduce lumps. A heat gun helps to level too, just be careful to apply heat in a quick burst then stay off it for a few minutes to avoid starting bubble rash.

    Rippin Perch

Another 6" lure to add to my spring arsenal. Will need it if this weather continiues to be so cold! The paint job did not turn out as I hoped. It is difficult to use orange and green on the same lure. Should have gone with sunburst orange instead of reg flour orange as the base. His 8" big brother is next in the paint cue and will get the enhanced tweak to the pattern. Bait features 6" basswood plug. Dual scale pattern. Through wire construction. Two 3/0 3596 Mustad hooks with Wolverine split rings. Lure is made for a fast rip then pause hence the name. It also rides up high with weight forward for backing up out of weeds.

  14. Super job. Can't get over the amount of carving detail that you do.

    musky swimbait

When I read the title I was expecting a swimbait for muskies, then the picture came up and I could see that it is a swimbait that IS a musky. Nicely done and super detail!

    For my buddy, Larry

The glare on the clear is a nice problem to have! Nice job and super finish!

    Golden Shad Palm bait

Man I really like the color of the body. Looks as though the base wood grain can be seen through the clear. Just super!

    Spring Walleye Twitch

Made this one for the upcoming MI opener. Wanted somethign smaller than my usual offerings that can be worked more slowly than my normal selection of twitch lures. The paint job is a slight tweak on my walleye pattern that I have used on the past two lures. I tried a fluorescent yellow as the base to make it stand out in stained water. Bait features 6" basswood plug. Dual scale pattern. Through wire construction. Two 3/0 3596 Mustad hooks with Wolverine split rings. Initial "pool test" reveals that this bait has very good movement at low retrieval speeds as a result of the blunt angle on the diving lip with a strong belly roll. It also rides up high in the water colums with good bouyancy to hopefully make it easily worked over weed cover. True tests will be on Thursday on the opener!

    7" Crappie Twitcher

Super job! Looks like you are really getting that hang of that new airbrush. Just in time for the musky opener.

    Twin Eyes

This was a repeat of a lure that I made about 1 month ago. The clone is pictured on the right. The lure on the left was posted about 1 month ago. Made this new lure for a buddy who liked the walleye paint job so I did it again. Will present this lure to my friend on the Wisconsin River and we will throw the twins around a bit during the WI opener and see what kind of interest they can stir up. Hope to get a reaction strike doing the post spawn walleye in distress routine! This lure features 8" length, dual weight placement, through wire construction, and three layers of epoxy.

This was a repeat of a lure that I made about 1 month ago. Made this lure for a buddy who liked the walleye paint job so I did it again. Had the plug made a long time ago but finally got around to paint and finish this week. See previous lure for paint recipe.
  22. Nice lure. I like the line tie method, very innovative.
  23. Thinning does slow the cure. That is the advantage, it allows you some time to apply to larger lures before it gets too lumpy to work with. Was your original coat tacky all over or just in patches? If patchy, that would lead me to believe that it may have been a mixing issue. If all over, possiblye a ratio problem or bad tube. Make sure that the air bubbles don't get you if a bubble comes out of one side and not the other.

    Atomic Carp

I dig it. Hellhound is a helluva bait eh? Looks good in atomic carp. I see you are really mastering the new airbrush!
