  1. Hello all! I just bought some jig heads off of eBay and I'm not too sure about painting them. I was thinking about just using my testors model paint. Is there something I need to etch the lead with first? I don't really want to spend alot of money right now on powder paint and all the equiptment for it. Is there some other kind of paint that will work well if testors will not? Any suggestions? Thanks lost
  2. Hello all. Here are some pictures of my first attempt at tying a mega diver for pike. Any thought? Suggestions? Pointers? Thanks, lost
  3. Hello all. I've yet to build a buck tail from scratch but I had this is one that I had that needed some work as you can see from the first pic. I changed the balde to a #5 and added a new hook and hair. Any suggestions for next time? Pointers? Thanks lost BEFORE AFTER
  4. Thanks for all of the input all! That will help me get started. I'm probably going to order a lenght of .051 and a length of smaller diameter stuff. I still haven;t decided yet. I'll let you know what I end up getting. lost
  5. Thanks all for the help! I was hoping I didn't waist my money on the hooks. Glad to know they'll work alright. Thanks, lost
  6. Hello all! I purchased some Eagle Claw Laser Sharp multi color hooks at WalMart the other day out of the mark down ben. I beleive they are size 4. I held them up to some store bought harnesses that I have and the hook is just about the same size. The shank on the store bought hook is longer and the hook may be a TINY bit deeper at the trough. Other than that they are the same. Do you think it would be OK to try these hooks on my harnesses? I just don't want to waste my time tying them up and not be able to catch any fish cause the hooks too small. Thanks, lost
  7. Hello all! I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the proper wire guages would be for rooster tails, bass spinners, muskie/pike...etc. I've looked on the net and can find a few instructions on how to make the baits, but no wire guage guidelines. Thanks, lost
  8. Thanks all for the help! I was actually thinking about driving a few nails into a 2x6 and clamping it to the table to try wire bending. THanks again! lost
  9. Thanks all for the info! Someone mentioned a wire bender, I was curious can you get buy with out one? I've read that you can, but are they worth the expense? I was thinking about picking up one of the $10.00 ones from luremaking.com. But I don't think it is heavy enough to bend "muskie" wires? Thanks again! lost
  10. Hello all! I was wondering what your favorite catalogs are? I'm a bit of a catalog junkie myself. As I'm able to look at the same catalog for hours on end and weeks at a time if it is a good one. I've got the catalog from MUDHOLE and LUREMAKING.com. Both are nice catalogs, but are there aymore that I should try to add to my collection? HAppy reading! lost
  11. IMPRESSIVE! What type of skirt material did you use on the first 3?
  12. Hello all! I've lurked here for a while now and this is my first post. I have a few questions. I'm thinking of tying some in line buck tails for muskies. As money is really tight right now I'd like to think I can save some money doing it this way over spending $15.00+ per bucktail in the store. Anyway, Can you recommend a good online resource for design ideas? What type of hair would you guys/gals recommend to use on these? I've looked at pseudo hair, buck tail hair, maribou, etc. What do you guys use? What are the advantages of one over another? My brain tells me they don't call them "bucktails" because they're make of something other than that. Is there any type of glue you can substitute for head glue? I've read about using it in abundance on just about everything. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance! lost
