  1. Tried the heat gun was able to get the rear pistol off with a lot of coaxing. Had no luck with the rest. Valiant idea and attempt but lousy results. Thanks any way for your interests and suggestions.
  2. I have some older rods that have like new cork pistol grips and the foregrips are as well. I was wondering if there might be a way to remove them from the blank without destroying the cork. I have a heatgun, and wondered if the cork might be too much of an insulator to allow the heat penetrate down to the blank. Any advice would be deeply appreciated.
  3. After posting my reply, I realized that I should have started a new topic. I apologize. I tried to delete it but didn't know how to.

  6. As I mention, I'm a dummy, and I think I got it figured out. Was puzzled by format. Hadn't been on the site for a while
  7. Have a general issue question. My preferred browser is firefox. I have access to MS Explorer but I'm not that familiar in navigating in it and prefer Firefox. My problem in firefox right now is that when I log in, all i get is the Large Black banner with the white panel inside it. None of the navigation links have any effect> This is the only site on whick I have encountered this problem. I'm a computer dummy so would apptrciate any easy to understand explanations if there are any. Thanks in advance
  8. i'm new to this technique and was curious to find out if there is a way to mask off a very small area. Today, i was dipping some old time bass sinkers in powder paint. After I dipped and set them aside, I suudenly realized oh sh##. the wire is painted over as well as the rivet style head at the botton of the sinker. I tried to turn the wire by grabbing the eye wire with a pair of pliers and twisted off the wire on a couple as the paint had sealed over the bottom rivet, and made a weld almost as stong as solder Ant tips on how i can seal off the wire before dipping as I would still like to have the wire turn to prevent twist.
  9. Hi yall. Ran across this site by accident, I love fishing and most anything associated with it. Eleven years ago I went in for a routine quad bypass procedure, and came out with my left side mostly paralyzed. It pretty well retarded my ability to get around to fish, but not entirely . I still get to go to Canada every year and get to fish off a pontoon boat. Still get a rush. 30 years ago I took a crack at building a rod, and thoroughly enjoyed it. That is ho I ran across TU I stopped by this site took a look and am totally fascinated at the skills and ideas displayed here. I hope to be maybe a smidgen at being able to acquire some of these skills, even though I only have full use of one arm, and part of the other, I have a couple of projects in mind. As I progress in knowledge and skill I hope to create something worthy of mention on this great site.I'm an old codger by years but in spite of it all I still feel pretty young.
