I'm searching for a durable top clearcoat for my homemade lures.
I'v tried epoxies, laquers and single part urethanes but none are 100% suitable in my opinion. The hooks on the lures destroy these clear finishes in a day of fishing (or less).
The best so far is a catalyzed automotive urethane from "House Of Kolor". I had some of these candy colors and clear left over from some helment paintjobs and found the clear to be hard and super glossy (but expensive).
Does anyone know of a source for clear gelcoat (I assume that polyester gelcoat is best as it would be much harder than epoxy).
AND would anyone recommend another type of clear topcoat?
