  1. Thanks!!!!!With this paint I swish it through and fluff my powder after two or three jigs. Maybe, I will try to apply the green with a brush; by dusting it on rather than swishing it through. Maybe I need to increase the heat on the jigs as well. There is no set pattern it happens when the powder turns into the wet candy look instantly and when it remains dull. I feel that I am doing everything correctly and maybe I just need to practice and work with this color more. If anyone has anymore tips or words of wisdom, I would greatly appreciate it.
  2. I have just bought two different colors of Pro Tech Powder. One color has a consistency of super fine grains of sand (black), while the other (watermelon) is like the consistency of baby powder. Is this normal for the two different consistencies? Reason I ask is, I am having tremendous problems with the watermelon color only!!!!! I have not had one problem at all with the black powder.... The watermelon drips real bad, once bake the jigs... My heating process and hand movement is the exact same for both colors. Thanks...... Your help and support is awesome!!!!!!!!!
  3. Lake fork tackle company is where I found them.
  4. I was wondering if anyone has a idea or tips on powder painting tungsten weights? I found a company that sells the weights unpainted and $2 cheaper than the ones you can buy in the retail stores already painted.
  5. Great!!!! you will enjoy it...... I had him make one for me to pour shaky heads to allow me to mold the screw loc into the head.... If you don't mind, could you post a pic of your jigs. I would like to see how you mold the rattle to it. I pour my own jigs as well, but I use a collar or a very small cable tie..
  6. SC does a awesome job on molds. I can speak from experience,he made a mold for me.......
  7. Does anyone have any comments on using a fluid bed for powder coating jigs? Is this something that is really needed or can someone new to powder coating and jig making get by without? Great site and appreciate everyone's help and info!!!!!!!!
  8. I am new to this site and new to the lure making fun. I just started making my own flippin' and shaky head jigs. The problem I have is, the paint is chipping off sooner that I would expect it to, I know some will come off..... I am using a paint sold by Netcraft, basic vinyl paint with no primer, than a clear coat also sold by Netcraft. I have heard that you can and can't use a primer. Is that my problem or possibly not putting on enough clear/top coat? Thanks for the help!!!! Love the site!!!!!!
  9. I can't find a mold to satisfy what I want in a shaky head style jig. So, I am thinking about taking a blank mold and creating my own. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to start something like this or any tips on what to do or not to do? Thanks........
