  1. This may sound like a dumb question to most of you but here goes. Can you use glass beads in place of the metal ones on Spinnerbaits? Any reasons why the wouldn
  2. Thanks Whiz Jig that was what I was looking for.
  3. Are the SPARKIEs kind of like the Gamakatsu Arky 26?
  4. Is skirtsunlimited.com still around? I went to the site and it doesn't look like a skirt supplier.
  5. Last night I was looking through the Lurecraft catalog and noticed what to me seemed like the same jig but two different names. They are the weedless SPARKIE and the weedless ARKIE. Are they the same just a different maker? Or is the SPARKIE wider?
  6. I just have one question. Would the hats be a deep or large hat? I have a big head and most hats I find are what I call shallow and sit high. They are always felling like they're about to jump off my head. Other than that I want a hat and shirt! My vote is for the "custom lure maker" but I won't complain about "tackleunderground.com" either. Maybe we could look into the "FlexFit" type of hat. It comes in two sizes and fit great. By far the most comfortable hat I've ever worn. I'll try to find out more info on them for you.
  7. What would be the best knot for braided lines? Is there a not that doesn't need superglue to hold it when using braid? Ash
  8. I fish for Largemouth Bass near Greensboro and Lexington, NC. I also fish for whatever down at the mouth of the Little Alligater River on the NC coast.
  9. I would subscribe to a TU magazine. I think that it'd be a good idea. Look at RodMaker. It's a magazine for rod builders and IMHO a great and addicting mag.
  10. I was just at Magic Kingdom on Friday. I kept thinking that it would've been nice to fish around there. Maybe I'll look into next year.
  11. I'm next!!! Hey folks My name is Ashley Carlton (NO! it's not a girls name)or just Ash. I too have heard them all. I'm 32yo I live in Greensboro, North Carolina. I have a wife and three kids, one each of hers, mine, and ours. During the day and here lately evenings I'm a Desginer / CAD administrator. I'm new to making lures. I have several that are in process right now. I am also getting into rod building and just finished refinishing a 1950's era Bamboo boat rod for my dad as a Christmas preasent. Also I'll try to only give advice on things that I know about. Ash
  12. You might want to try your local Prosethics (fake arm and/or legs) office and see if you purchase some from them. Some will let you some won't. Or even try a pottery supplier. I haven't tried pouring soft plastics but I've used a lot of POP and over types of gypsum. Although POP is cheap it's not as strong or long lasting as something like Ultra-CAL. MAN this stuff is strong, but hard to find. Special effects suppliers have it. Ultra-CAL will outlast POP by at least twice as long.
  13. I've pushed the slides in to disengage them, I'd cast after all were in and then I'd push one out and so on. No distance change. The ones that I talked about adjusting were the metal pins that the brakes slide on.
  14. I've only had one other baitcaster a Shakespeare from the mid 80's I think. After I got home yesterday I went out and gave it another once over and about two dozen casts. I started by checking the free spool adjustment knob (for the weight of the lure) and its all the way out and barely being held on by the O-ring. I also checked the cent. braking and I tried casting with one brake, then two, and so on until all six were engaged. Yes I did get a few backlashes but my distance didn't seem effected by that. I did notice that after checking the brakes once that a couple of the little pins that the brake slides on seemed out of alignment. A couple of them were sticking out further than the others and a couple were pushed in. After I adjusted the pins so that they were all in alignment I casted a few more times. More backlashes but I think that they were mostly because I didn't use my thumb enough. That's when the wife called for supper. I think that I'll try again tonight but with different weights and see if that has anything to do with it. I'm also calling BPS and see if they can help. Thanks for the help guys!
