  3. Hey guys I need some help. I have carved my master, made mold and pours my first bait. This is a 5.5 " 4 piece shad bait. I'm trying to make a floater and a slow sink version of this. Pretty sure I've got the slow sink part ok but I cannot for the life of me get this thing to float the way I want. Ive used equal amounts of micro balloons and part a and b of the alumilite and only have 1/8 of an ounce of lead in the whole bait and it still wants to slowly sink. It swims great but sinks. If I use any less weight at all it just rolls over and doesn't balance out right. I will try to attach video so you can see what I'm talking about.
  4. Thanks for the help guys. Maybe it was graphite rods. Anybody know where to get these?
  5. I was wondering if anybody could point me to a good source for ordering Lexan. I need it for some bills and some swimbait tails. Also I have heard of people using titanium rods for swimbait hinges, does anybody have a good source for that ? Thanks again guys!
  6. Is there a way to achieve the crackle finish using lacquer paints?
  7. Thanks guys. Also I use lacquer paint do you think it will be ok to paint right out of the mold or would I need to coat it with something first? The lacquer can be fickle on certain materials.

    Rtv Help

Hello Guys, I was on the Alumilite website and have some questions.I have my master made and know that I will be using the Alumilite white.I am stumped as to which of the RTV's to buy though.I am making a slip mold like I saw in one of the member submitted tutorials. They have 4 or 5 different RTV's on the site and I really have no Idea as to which one to buy.As always any help will be greatly appreciated.
  11. Thank you guys thats just what I was hoping you would say. I can buy it at my local hardware store.
  12. Hello guys! I am going to make some of my own balsa baits and was wandering what the best sealer to use would be.My main concern is the baits cracking.I would really like to use something that makes the baits hard.I use lacquuer paints and clear with a polyeurethane.Would I have to worry about the baits cracking if I sealed with an epoxy or Dick Nites? Thanks for any help! Jimmie
  13. Hello guys! I have a shopsmith Mark V model 510 multi tool with lathe.I was wandering if anyone has tried to buy on of the fishing lure duplicators for these and if so have you had success with it. Or if that doesn't work is there anyone on here that would be willing to make balsa baits for me or know someone that would. Thanks again!!!! Jimmie
  14. Thanks guys I wii give that a shot!
  15. I was wandering if anybody could tell me what the best sealer would be for me if I am painting with lacqueer.I have sprayed over several eurethanes and the lacqueer just wrinkles it.Could I just spray my baits with clear lacquer a couple of times? Any help here would be much appreciated. Also while I'm at it what is the best thing to fill the holes that I've drilled for my weights.I am using poplar if that helps. Thanks again guys!!!!!!
  16. This may be a silly question but I have to ask.Could'nt you get into some sort of trouble for that? Thats kind of like putting a bandit lure in a Lucky Craft box and selling it as a Lucky Craft. If you are selling a lets say Norman but it is labeled as a predator bass bait I just wouldn't think that that would go over real well with the big boys. Now if it said painted by predator bass baits I would think that you would be OK. Like I said tho this may be a goofy question. Jimmie
  17. That thing is simply amazing bro!!!!!!!!!!!!!
