Hi all So far I've only painted wooden baits with no problems so this probably sounds too obvious to many of you. I apologise for that. A friend gave me some plastic blanks to paint and to be honest I just realised I had never painted a clear plastic bait, hence the following question: What preparation of the plastic body is required to obtain the best result. I use acrylic, oil based and automotive paints in my baits. Do I need to use any solvents or clean the bodies in any particular way in order to obtain the best possible adherence? thanks Greetings from Oz Beto

Hi All Is there any way to measure the exact amount of D2t to be applied to a blank? i.e. if the blank weights "X" (oz, gr, etc) and I have 5 blanks to coat, how much epoxy should I mix? or is it better to mix enough epoxy for one blank only? If doing so, is there any rough proportion between the weight of the blank and the amount of epoxy to use? Sorry if the question seem to basic, but I'm just starting out using epoxy as coating. greetings from OZ Beto

Hi troutgnat One material I found quite easy to work with is Masking tape. This tape has a mild glue that makes it easily removable after you are done with it. You can make patterns for rounded body cranckbaits, stick it on, paint and then remove it (carefully) and re-use it. It comes in different widths. You can also use self adhesive paper (used for labels). The main advantage of this material is that you can design your pattern in your computer an print it directly to the sheet, then use your Xacto knife to cut your pattern and that's it! G'day to all Does anybody know if Devcon 2T is available in Oz. I've looked in their Oz website but I couldn't find the product. Is it sold under another name? Are there any alternatives that would deliver the same results? I've tried automotive clear coating but it blistered my paint job ...I almost died!! I want to stick to some already proven methods. I've seen some amazing work in this website and I think that trying to imitate these artists' work is just like a humble tribute to them. Any ideas Greetings from Oz Humberto

Hi all This is a very interesting topic. I'm very new to this art ....yes ART you guys are real artists. Although I still prefer to make my lures by hand, I'm also involved in 3D modelling due to my work in design for the lighting industry here in Australia. Recently we were developing a new product and we've came across several companies that specialise in doing exactly what you require, a prototype or even small runs. Hi, I also use the photo printing and paper template. I usually print to self adhesive paper (the one used for labels), then I cut my template with scissors and stick it on to the timber. Using this method I don't have to actually trace the outline of the bait. Hope this helps Greetings from Oz Beto
