  1. How do I check messages? Theres a 1 by the upper right hand corner but not sure how to check it. Thankyou

  2. Who makes the most affordable RTV silicon these days for making molds
  3. Sorry, I didn't mean to say line tie in my last post. I meant to say hook hangers. My line tie will be the wire in the lip itself but if I am not goign to use the thru wire as the hook hangers can i just epoxy the wire 1/4 of the way into the bait in a drilled out hole? Thanks
  4. Thanks for the response. If am using Screw eyes for the line tie is it possible to just drill out a hole in the body and epoxy the wires in the drill hole? This way I can use the screw eyes for convinience but also have the lip and line tie very secure? Thanks
  5. Hey Guys, It looks like a lot of the large trolling baits have a double wire for a line tie which is secured in the bait. How is the wire secured to the lip itself? It almost looks like the wire is molded into the lip. Or maybe it is just epoxied. Thanks
  6. dramone, what type of foam are you using? Thanks for your time
  7. Ross, I was wondering the same thing myself.
  8. Hello, I'm not sure what Propionate is. Is there a commercial brand similar to this? THanks again
  9. Haz, Thanks for the idea. What type of sealer are you using? Thanks

  13. I guess my question is why it won't work in theory. I know the alumilite gets very warm when its in the mold but shouldn't a 2 part epoxy hold up to that kind of heat? I know the rtv molds are more flexible so maybe that has something to do with it? THanks
  14. Hey, Thanks guys. Good help. Jed, Do you have any foam you reccomend? Looking for cheap stuff that will work. Also what type of clear coat are you using for the alumilite? Just getting into mold building. Thanks again guys for all the help.
  15. My only guess would be that when the mold is coated with epoxy that the mold will lose some of the detail. I'm just hoping to get a basic/simple shape and then add detail to the body when it is out of the mold. THanks
  16. Hello Everyone, I'm new to 2 piece mold making and am hoping to find the cheapest way to make them. I've searched the archives and it looks like no one uses plaster of paris molds for hard baits. Is it possible to make a 2 part plaster of paris mold and then pour in alumilite to make plastic baits? I'm using RTV right now but was hoping there was something cheaper to use. Also what is the best method/ratio to thin down plaster. Thanks for your time,

  18. Hello, I'm using alumilite and I think they say that 50% of your casting resin can be microballons does this mean by volume or weight? If by volume for example if I have 50 ml of part A and 50 ml of part B do I put in 50ml of microballoons or 100ml of microballoons? Thanks for your time, Jake
  19. Could someone try to give an equilivent wood denisty compared to the 16lb foam. I've used basswood and poplar before. Which is it more similar too or is it even less dense than basswood? Thanks for the info. Also can you use screw eyes with the foam? THanks again
  20. dampeoples, Yes I agree. We think in the same terms. When you really have a bait building addiction you want to know as much as you can. My thoughts would be if each layer is compatible it would work but i'm not sure on this.
  21. Before I read a bit about it I wouldn't have thought the material used for the body would have mattered. The plastic is covered up by mulptle primes and paint so I don't fully understand chemically why a 2 part epoxy will not work. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I'm just looking to learn why it doesn't work for more understanding. Thanks
  22. sure has, Very much so. Thanks again
  23. lunge, Thanks a lot. My last question is how do you go about securing the lip w/ screws? Do you epoxy it in and then predrill holes and add screws? thanks for your time
  24. Hey guys, I've been using arcylics and etex on wood for years. I made a little mold and don't know if this combo will work on plastic lures? Anyone have any advice on primer/paint and clear? Thanks a lot, Jake
  25. Hey Guys, Thanks for the responses. How do you go about cutting the lip cutout? I was thinking a table saw with a fence? Then Lathe it down after the lip slot is cut out? This is the only way I can think of but seems tricky. thanks
