  1. thanks for the rig. I didn't know about those lures, I'm kind of taking back fishing activities again since a loong, long, loooong, time, lets say I know the basics about lures but I'm not familiar with all of them. I used to fish by hand, just the line 50 lb, a weight,a hook and bait, wen I was younger, my grandpa tought me, I realy enjoy'ed those moments, not just the fishing part but being able to spend some time with him. He tought me to fish with a rod too, we used spoons most of the time ( home made ones), we got realy big snapers and snook, I think thats the name, and sabalos, down in Veracruz, but in those days (back 25 years or so) you could catch real monsters from shore, or rocks or in the river, now its harder, you have to go in open sea to catch them. well thanks again. saludos!!! manuel
  2. lol maybe those are . saludos!!! Manuel
  3. could not explain it better, I' am a bit familiar with vectors and forces and that stuf, problem is that is harder for me to translate it. Thanks Vodaman saludos!!! Manuel
  4. could not explain it better, I' am a bit familiar with vectors, moments and forces and that stuf, basicly aplied on buildings, problem is that is harder for me to translate it. Thanks Vodaman saludos!!! Manuel
  5. thanks Vodkaman, that realy clared it down for me, and I'll read about vortex shedding. and for the paradox you posted : A lure balanced and setup to dive at say 30 degrees. Reduce the ballast slightly and the dive angle will increase. Conversely, increase the ballast and the lure will swim shallower! the explenation is that's because the change in ballast (up or down), changes the angle of the lip? ( it's a bit confusing trying to think and translate at the same time in two language lol) And for lipless baits? I asume that the neutral bouyancy principle wold enter here to achieve the working depth is that wright?. I
  6. Woooo that thing realy moves!!!, I've never tried it, mabe I get my hands on one of those:) or.... make someting similar lol. In the video its troled at fast speed, does it move the same in spinning or casting reel speeds?. thanks for the info. Manuel
  7. Hi there, I'm working on my first lure, a carved minow, it will be about 5 in x 3/8 in x 5/8 in, the lip 1/2 in long, and at a 10 deg. angle to achieve a faster 5 ft depth, if you see someting wrong pleas tell me. The problem here is i need a heavy 1 - 1.5 oz to compensate wind and casting distance, I use a 6 ft casting rod, and usualy I fish in sea waters. How does weight afect working depth? is there a rule of tumb to calculate the weigth- working depth relation?, how can I apply this "rule" to lipless lures? I'll apreciate your coments and response. Manuel
  8. thanks Swede I'll tak anote for that one to make some testing. Manuel
  9. yup thats it!! the j plugs, some link took me to their web page and I read it there. If you use a rubber band does it work? is that the only way to make ir run difrent?(the lure that is). I imagined some other mecanical thing or a rig of some kind, that changes the position of the linkage and maked a kind of ransom colocation, thus making the lure movement "hunt" Thanks to all for your reply Manuel
  10. Hi there to all, I've been reading about crank baits and lures, my main doubts where about lip size lengt, width, and the angle, those are allready covered, but I read someting about hunting lures, and this term (free sliding chain swivel) is not clear to me, to say more I'm not familiar with it, so my question is: How does a free sliding chain swivel works, and how it is used on the lure? Better yet , how can I use a slide chain sliding swivel, and how does it go on the lure to make it work?. hope you can help me out. Saludos Manuel
  11. thank you, Vodkaman, and you are wright, I just finished reading the first part that I
  12. thanks, cullin8s. regards Manuel
  13. Hi ledhed and gracias, I'm from Sonora, Hermosillo (state capital), just on the other side of the sea of Cortez, oposit from Baja Norte and Sur in the continent, there are good places for fishing in San Carlos or Guaymas. saludos!! Manuel
  14. I'm starting to make lures, in fact I didn't know I could do that!!, if I don't post often it's because I'm reading, the point is.. theres no point asking questions that all ready been answered!!, so I'll be arround but quiet for a wile. sorry for my spelling, I'm a bit rusted on the language, altough I understand and compreend perfecly. Regards and see you arround the forum! Un abrazo Manuel
