  1. Size 12? (the gold one) knitting needle. Using a tubing cutter, I cut below the point ~.25" above where the full diameter of the needle starts as a transition. This helps when you slide the band on with pliers. The shorter the piece, the easier it is to get the tabs through still resembling how you assembled them. A longer piece is a little more difficult, but you can load up on bands. I think I read about this technique on TU?
  2. I've received my orders much sooner than that. Like old man said, if it's not a custom color it shouldn't take that long. No guarantees, call charlie to find out for sure.
  3. Right now I am using a paper bag. I'm not getting the simmering effect as seen in the professional models, but it's letting air through evenly enough that I can still shake the cup and get a water like effect. I've seen posts that other people are using common items like coffee filters and allergenic pillow cases. Some are ordering quality membranes, I'm not sure from where. Good luck, let us know what works for you.
  4. Thanks Spike, going to find a bigger one.
  5. Trying to get my own home made bed working. What size pump are you guys running?? i.e. 20 gal 40 gal 100 gal...? Or other? Thank you
  6. Hmm, makes you wonder. More motivation to scrap and recycle. Taken from metalprices.com Scrap Copper is at $ 3.09 a lb
  7. I think we assumed that this inquiry was about "bass" jigs made with silicone and or rubber skirt material. Weighinalimit is right on the money, the construction site idea is a good one. Show up at the end of the day with a sixer and everyone is friends. When did the price of copper go up?
  8. Radio shack has solid copper, 24 ga, speaker wire. 3 or 4.99 for a 75 yard spool + 150yards of wire. I stuck out at my local craft stores and wally world for copper wire. I think I read in another post that a guy takes the copper wire off of dead electric motors. It should be small enough, comes off in good tying sized pieces and is free. Check you local landfill swap meet, recycling center, thrift store for dead motors.
  9. book: Knowing Bass: The scientific approach to catching more fish author: Dr. Keith Jones, Director of Fish Research at Berkley Fish Research Center I found this book to be very interesting and since he had access to the research equipment that Berkley uses, it made it have some credibility. He doesn't plug them at all either. There is a good chapter on how bass taste and smell. He talks about the anatomy of how they taste and how they smell. How scent is dispersed in water and what scents bass respond too. There's pictures and charts. Bass can not follow their nose like a bloodhound. They get a whiff of something nearby they like and this will get them up and looking around for the source. The scents we apply as fisherman do not do much to attract bass, but encourage them to hold the bait longer, lubricate, and mask scents they do not like. A good read for the winter months ahead.
  10. Brad S, You were right to disagree. Great post!
  11. You can use whatever lb test you have lying around! After you put the mono on, tape the bitter end down. The mono is there to give the braid something to bite on, preventing it from slipping when spooling. Good Luck!
  12. Don't do it! Super fluke + 3/0 EWG = Fish
  13. Thanks for the help hawnjigs, I'm searching the threads
