  1. Iv'e used the small plastic cups people above have mentioned...have some with measuring lines some without....lately it seems that the cups are getting "HOT" by the time i finish a 5-6 inch swim bait....anyone else experiencing this issue...is the cup melting appears to make the epoxy "Go Off"....Devcon 2ton 30 min & Bob Smith 30 minute...michel
  2. As Blackjack says..."Bondo is your friend"...been using this method for the last five or so years on my PVC Azek lures...easy to apply easier than most other options to sand smooth...iv'e had zero issues ...just my 2 cents...michel...Go Fish!!!
  3. http://www.alsgoldfish.com/Hook_Bonnets_p/hb-60.htm try this site...60 pcs for $10.29....michel made in America!!!
  4. I recently purchased bonnets for my swim baits hook size 1, 1/0, 2/0...60 pcs for $10.29 plus shipping...i thought a good deal.have pondered this feature for several years...WHY did i wait so long...easy on, easy off...makes dealing with big trebles easier & mentally relaxing...wouldn't hesitate to recommend bonnets !!! this where i found them http://www.alsgoldfish.com/Hook_Bonnets_p/hb-60.htm Good luck...Go Fish!!!
  5. TU painters....i did a search ...answered part of my question (thanks mark P) i would like to use createx & krylon glitter over azek...are any combo's of layering inviting headaches ???Will be using D2Ton for my topcoat...at this time my plan is to use the krylon as final spray over the dorsal side of the lure...the color i believe would be a great bluegill imitation (twilight sky glitter)...thanks for any input...Michel

Like your pumpkin seed....great colors/pattern...is it wood or a "poured" bait?
  7. great!!!! thanks for the reply.....
  8. just curious ...site doesn't want to "remember me"...i have to sign in each visit (usually twice)...any suggestions??? thanks, Michel
  9. Nice!!! like your work...from the pic it appears the KBS topcoat produced a matte like appearance is that normal...if so i'll have to try some...
  10. the lure building web site recommended by anglinarcher is where i first learned how to build gliders...great site...iv'e built them from poplar and Azek (thank You Mark).....mine have been in the 6-8 inch slow sink models shaped similar to the "stalker glider"...good luck
  11. I agree Mark... he definitely knows his stuff ...sounds like my youngest son (32) a mechanical engineer...makes it clear to me..lol..michel
  12. I've been using both for over 10 years...have never had a FAIL...caught up to a 9 plus blackie & a 15 lb striper...screwed into poplar and azek...using split rings Owner 50-60#...no problems....But to each his own!
  13. thanks Mark...i"ll definitely be checking out those products...michel
  14. Mark when you refer to "runny" & "gap filling" super glues what are they ie. a brand or viscosity rating ..iv'e looked at my local lumber stores & big box stores have yet to find a a viscosity rating for runny, medium or thick...of course I'm a tile contractor not a carpenter.. i know they are out there just not sure where..thanks, michel

    speed trap copy

Great Job Mark!!! Speed traps are one of my "go to baits" on The Delta...have caught serious #'s & size over the years.. especially in the Orange & Red craw patterns..Thanks to Mark Lassagne he introduced my son and myself to this great lure about 20 years ago while fishing on the Delta..

    Scale Decals

JR are you printing that with an ink jet or laser inkjet...wife thinks our ink jet won't do it....thanks, michel
  17. 21xdc i was just thinking, as i made dinner that i made a big jump in logic ...the pikie is a diver ...but on my top water slammer types with same cut, those puppies knock big time against each other...i realized i was mistaken in comparing a diver to a top water, when the pikie is swimming it doesn't "slam" together...thanks for pointing that out...unlike the pikie mine doesn't have the center disc to stop the parts from colliding......they just pound away...can hear 'em coming 30 foot away...whoa sorry about picture quality ...hopefully you can still understand what i'm trying to say
  18. the wife is always asking me "why do do you have to be so contrary " (after 36 years of marriage???...whew!!) Don't mean to stir the pot about this "V" joint on the slammer style bait ....but...IMHO its not that critical to the movement of the bait itself...if you look at a slammer they've been assembled with an appreciable distance between pcs...if one looks at a jointed creek chub pikie the joint cut is not a traditional "V" but rather the opposite with points facing each other...iv'e made several "slammer style" baits with that setup, it's not as a critical cut as the standard "V" cut.....they swim great & catch....guess what i"m saying is do what works for you...Unless you dabble in OCD like Jigginpig suggested we may all be guilty of.(although the wife says I'm more anal than OCD..that coming from a retired teacher of 40 yrs...guess she knows of where she speaks..lol)
  19. Gentlemen been to Home Depot looking for these screws (nearest Lowes is 40 miles one way) not sure i'm looking @ the correct product...is this what we're talking about?? Jonister i tried to locate the post you referred to about posting where/ type @ Lowe's with no luck...
  20. wow jiginpig we've been trying to locate something similar for that for some time...thanks will have to check it out...michel
  21. Another one of my most recent builds, PVC, createx, D2T top coat with embossed foil (thanks JR )...body measures 51/2 inches 7 with tail...michel As with the previous lure (the bleeding shad) i used some different materials for the "build out" of the jaw line & gill plate butchers string... the fins were 4 thin pcs of cardboard glued together then all covered with foil...i like the result

  24. Holy Moley everyone needs a big shot of CHILL....i can understand & empathizes with both sides...it's frustrating when one gets first bitten by the bug to build (be it hard body, soft body plastic or whatever) hoffbossn it takes time & patience (i'm certian my wife is rolling her eyes cuz i'm seriously lacking both) ...then your into a serious addiction....i'm no master builder by any means (been addicted for about 10 years...still consider myself a newbie although iv'e got a couple 100 baits built).. i still aspire to be any where near the first rung of the ladder that leads to builders such as Snax, JR Hopkins, Jarrel, diemai ,cougarftd, solarfall, mark poulson an the list goes on endlessly....i built my baits first with a scroll saw a one inch belt sander & palm sander with pine or redwood scraps i could acquire....trying to figure it out...wow i just kept going thru the posts not using search cuz i was a computer clueless...10 years down the road i understand AZ Fisher point of view...sometimes in attempt to learn newbies tend to "flood" the pages with redundant questions...(at least it seems...but they're not really ...that would be the question unasked)....but step back an take it all in...i began with pine & redwood moved onto bass wood and poplar...then made the jump about a year an half ago to PVC....Having read mark's posts & watched JR's video more times than i can remember...there is no downside except i do miss the "aroma" of cutting sanding wood...PVC seriously lacks on that one...one can build with an entire array of tools or with just the basics...depends who your building for...me I build for myself...to catch "the big one"...my PB on my own lures is just shy of double digit on a"punker" style... if you desire to build for others for profit that's a story for a different time...not to sound petty or borrow from"Big Names"...JUST DO IT!!! and enjoy its a crazy love....addicting as hell...JMHO Michel aka "surfk9"
