  1. Thanks guys! To tell you the truth, it started off with laziness! The design was created through a series of sanding steps with my belt sander and I simply didn't round off the edges. I don't know what sparked the flat head, I think Pabst Blue Ribbon and Jim Beam were the culprits. I started liking the look and over the past year I just emphasized some of the angles but kept the hefty belly look. This lure has a very wide wobble in comparison to square bills and dives about an extra foot deeper, but that may be more material influenced than design. I'm not sure if the angles do much for the action, I just like the look and it catches me fish. I'm hoping to try one out with the rattle/hunter method that Mark Paulson expressed too.

  2. Thanks man. The dark line is made by layering chameleon paint (purple/ green) over a light black line.

As for the angles, I'm not sure if they make a difference or not. I just like the look is all. I fish these just as much as a fish KVD and RCs and just let the fish decide what they want for the day.

  3. incredible paint man. question though, I was about to crash in my tent and saw the bug mesh that makes up the top half and thought it would make for a great stencil. The scale mesh on your lure looks very similar. It may be worth having a duct taped hole if it comes out like that!

  4. i roll the pattern on. i have a cheap ratchet tool that Ive had since 7th grade and the only thing I use it for is to roll foil. Ive tried several other tool handles, tool bits, etc. the hardest part is finding a pattern that wont shred your foil when you roll it. fyi, you need to clear coat over the foil before you paint. the paint just scatters on raw foil and you risk ruining your scale pattern w/out the protective coating)

  5. Catfish!!

very cool bait! Surprisingly, young of the year catfish are high on a bass's list of favorite meals. Channel catfish have a hard time naturally reproducing in reservoirs due to the impact of predation on the juveniles (which is one reason why catfish stockings take place). They're slow, nutritious, and delicious! I'd appreciate seeing some results from this lure. I've a catfish lure in the makings, but it's very far from the finish line. Just as a side note, bass have actually been used to control stunted bullhead populations as a successful management strategy. Good luck fishing.
