    Mold Oil

I second the thanks for the reply, Thill. I just follow the instructions that came with my first Do-It mold, that I got as a birthday present in December, that recommended to oil the hinge at least once every pouring session, and to let the mold cool and re-oil it if the oil smokes. But you've obviously poured a heluva lot more jigs than I have, so who am I to say? I use 3-in-1 oil, never even heard of 2-in-1 before. The 3-in-1 does smoke a little if the mold is real hot.
  2. Those that are not elements. Steel, for example.
  3. So which one have you settled on? Or have you?
  4. And it totally cracks me up every time I see someone misspell the word "misspell."
  5. Thanks for sharing that email. I'm still going to get a football jig mold, but I've also been looking into tying my own float and fly jigs, and those "S" style seem to me to be the best fit for that. So now, which type of weedguard do you like?
  6. I'm also new at this and shopping for weedless jig molds, but I think I'm going to go with the football jigs. I'll probably get the Do-it mold, but I wish they had one with a recessed eye on it. BPS sells a jig with a recessed hook eye, and it really helps it keep from getting hung up. Anybody know of a mold like that?
  7. Ryan, I have 3 words for ya: Float and Fly.
  8. :yay:This looks like just the forum I was looking for. My girlfriend gave me a mold, some lead, and a few other jig-making supplies for my birthday, a week before Christmas. So now I'm concentrating on learning to make and fish with jigs and spinner baits. I'm definitely new at this; heck it wasn't long ago I thought a jig 'n' pig was something you burned through the water (duh). But I do know that jigs are one of the most versatile baits out there, so if I can get good at jig-fishing, I'll be in good shape.
