  1. Why such heavy wire. Lurepartsonline has wire up to.062.
  2. While trying to recreate the color "KVD Kick" from strike king I wasted the last 8 oz of my caney creek plastic so I got alittle inventive and found some test tubes that I had and filled them half up with mineral oil then took all the colors that I thought could possibly match and started adding one drop of this and one drop of that. After only a few minutes I had a pretty good match only using the suspected colors I originately thought. Blue and watermelon. Then I threw in a little .015 silver holo and gold glitter. Added alittle .035 balck glitter. shake it up like a snow globe and wallah! KVD Kick in a test tube. Although I dont know the drops per oz for color mixing, I am now confident that this new method of testing will save me time and money in the future. This might not be a bullet proof idea but might be a helpfull tip for someone else in a bind like myself. Joe
  3. I got to gander mountain today and they had one bag of the kvd kick tubes left. After getting home and washing the salt off the color looks gren with a blue hint in it. If I had to name it it would be sea water green. On my next order I'm going to have to buy quit a few colors I think and then just go to work on figuring it out. It does look like a great color for my neck of the woods.
  4. Next time I make a trip to Gander mountain I'm definetly going to get a bag of the tubes. I don't make my own tubes yet and would love to try these on lake mill lacs for some smallmouth! Thanks for the replys guys!
  5. I seen kvd using it on the bass pros dvd I have. He was using the tube on the show, it looks light blue green to me. gold and silver glitter. I didn't notice the black flake the first time. Thanks for posting the pic. I'm assuming the color choice I tried isnt going to get me much closer but will have to do since I don't have many colors. I will be putting in another order soon so any color advice for this one would be great.
  6. I tried copying this color tonight with limited success. my recipe was: .5 drop lc blue per oz 1 drop lc watermelon per oz gold gltter silver holo glitter Has anyone else tried to tackle this color. was thinking it might be a nice color for the natural lakes around me.
  7. Hey guys, I've almost got every thing for my next set of custom rods but am not satisfied with the aluminum trim rings I ordered from Mudhole. Although I have not recieced them yet I know the width ( from the pics) is to wide for my liking. My question to you all is were can I get a thinner ring for to butt section of my split grip handle I'm going to make. Also, Can we get these in any other material than aluminum? Joe
  8. thanks for the reply Mattman. If I choose to go with micros on my spinning rods do I go with standard guides toward the base and then switch to micros at the tip. Or can smaller guides be used threw out. Also, has anyone used the new style of split handle that comes on the st croix legend tourney rods? I might go with one of those if it is nicer than the minima one.
  9. Hey guys its been a while since I've been on this side of the forums. I just purchased a few of the sc5 blanks from mudhole they have on sale and want to built the rod as light as possible. Is the cost to performance worth going from the ring lock guide up to fujis sicarb. the one rod I bought is the 7.5' mh rated up to 1.25 oz. I will mostly use it as a bigger jig rod with spiral wrappings. Also has anyone used micros on spinning gear yet? I bought two of those toaday also and was wondering if I should give it a go? Thanks Joe

  11. Thanks for the heads up. I know who I will buy my ring fry mold from now!
  12. I have tried plastic that I got off ebay before but it stays white and it stinks to much for me . I'll be pouring, but with hopes of using BT twinjector later to make some ring fry. I actually got the plastic today and tried a 4 oz pour and I can't believe the difference in quality. I'm glad I went with CCM.
  13. I don't know what would be best, But i think if you combine them in a 5 gallon bucket and cut the jugs open to scrape the hard pack out then use a drill powered paint stirrer, it would whip it in.
