  1. Years ago - apx. 15 or so -  I was thinking this hobby was making me feel off . I took the SDS  sheet to my doctor. He told me nothing on it looks bad. Later I found out that its the fumes from it, not the plastisol it self. Maybe the SDS sheets have changed to warn you about the fumes ??  But then they hid it from us.

Here is a picture of their Camo in a different bait. Definitely a laminate. Like I had said, putting your hands on them will give you a much better idea of the colour and will make matching it far easier.

100 %   agree on having the bait in hand.

  3. on tackle warehouse the tail looks brownish not reddish ? Maybe its not a good representation of the color ? Looked lite oxblood laminate over lite brown and the brown makes the tail.

Did I give you a # 197  recipe ?  Is it Cinnamon with black flake ?

Yeah that seems like a bunch.  He's decided to buy quarts from other companies to see how they compare.

when I got barrels they only had 50 gallons in um from Calhouns.

any way 2 qts to 50 gallons is just over  an ounce per gallon.

        by my figures.

So I just had a texting conversation with an old buddy of mine and he said MF is out of their super soft formula, but they do have a 55-gallon drum of regular.  Anyone know how much of the MF brand softener is needed to make it super soft.  I used to have notes on this stuff, but that was years ago.  I'm guessing a couple quarts, but I could be off.  Any help is appreciated.

    Peace

If your buddy is going to buy the 55 gal. drum from them he should just ask them what to add.

  6. I was thinking butter knife too,, as CNC said . I remember the swim baits.  But it would be to thin I thought. But maybe if you JB welded 2 of them together.. Hmmmmm .

I highly doubt it’s your plastisol. Are you certain your temps are at 350? What thermometer are you using? Is it cold in your work area?  Your mold may be too cold to begin with. And your injector as well. Heat them both up before you begin.  I pop mine into an oven. Start with these easy fixes first.

     Agree above,

Sounds like things are getting cooled off to soon.

     Not the product at all.

Chris I’m using  either a nail  or a piece of wire 1/8” diameter. Guess I’ll have to modify my method some. Only small 1.5” crappie tubes are what gets to bulky for my liking when I dip the second color.

Les, someone makes a thinner plastisol -- I think it is intended for dipping eyes? This mite be the ticket for your tubes.

    Hello,

I am looking for the softest plastic formula on the market (US/EU/Asia). Any ideas what might be the company offering such a product?

I’m going to produce very small baits (less than 1 inch) and softness is the key concern. I’ve tried some ready formulas from the popular brands but it seems they are still a bit too stiff when the plastic cures. I am looking for an original formula without the necessity to add softeners etc.

    Thanks!

    why not add softener ?

Appreciate the offer, I got a little hardener left over I’m gonna try first to test the results. I was really shocked that the Calhouns hard formula I got a few years ago wasn’t what I was expecting, atleast not for swim baits. I don’t even know if Calhouns is sold anymore. What’s the go to plastisol people use now? Bait Plastics??
Ive been out of the game for a couple years.

I sent you a message on here.
