on tackle warehouse the tail looks brownish not reddish ? Maybe its not a good representation of the color ? Looked lite oxblood laminate over lite brown and the brown makes the tail.
Did I give you a # 197 recipe ? Is it Cinnamon with black flake ?

Looks like a laminate ??
I would try brown pumpkin - not too much
then the flake,

Yeah that seems like a bunch. He's decided to buy quarts from other companies to see how they compare.
when I got barrels they only had 50 gallons in um from Calhouns.
any way 2 qts to 50 gallons is just over an ounce per gallon.
by my figures.

So I just had a texting conversation with an old buddy of mine and he said MF is out of their super soft formula, but they do have a 55-gallon drum of regular. Anyone know how much of the MF brand softener is needed to make it super soft. I used to have notes on this stuff, but that was years ago. I'm guessing a couple quarts, but I could be off. Any help is appreciated.
Peace
If your buddy is going to buy the 55 gal. drum from them he should just ask them what to add.

I was thinking butter knife too,, as CNC said . I remember the swim baits. But it would be to thin I thought. But maybe if you JB welded 2 of them together.. Hmmmmm .
-
I have no Idea -
But it sounds like the rod u dip with would need a wide spot in the belly area.
If that makes sense?

You need a laminate bait bag.

I highly doubt it’s your plastisol. Are you certain your temps are at 350? What thermometer are you using? Is it cold in your work area? Your mold may be too cold to begin with. And your injector as well. Heat them both up before you begin. I pop mine into an oven. Start with these easy fixes first.
Agree above,
Sounds like things are getting cooled off to soon.
Not the product at all.

I use scissors. Cut while plastic cooks and molds cool.
Also I never leave pucks.. Pour the left over into molds then it is way easier to cut up later.

Chris I’m using either a nail or a piece of wire 1/8” diameter. Guess I’ll have to modify my method some. Only small 1.5” crappie tubes are what gets to bulky for my liking when I dip the second color.
Les, someone makes a thinner plastisol -- I think it is intended for dipping eyes? This mite be the ticket for your tubes.

Hello,
I am looking for the softest plastic formula on the market (US/EU/Asia). Any ideas what might be the company offering such a product?
I’m going to produce very small baits (less than 1 inch) and softness is the key concern. I’ve tried some ready formulas from the popular brands but it seems they are still a bit too stiff when the plastic cures. I am looking for an original formula without the necessity to add softeners etc.
Thanks!
why not add softener ?

If the remelt is already changing color even a little it will color the whole batch.

Appreciate the offer, I got a little hardener left over I’m gonna try first to test the results. I was really shocked that the Calhouns hard formula I got a few years ago wasn’t what I was expecting, atleast not for swim baits. I don’t even know if Calhouns is sold anymore. What’s the go to plastisol people use now? Bait Plastics??
Ive been out of the game for a couple years.I sent you a message on here.

Ive been out of the game for a couple years. That can be a touchy subject . They all have there goods and bads. If that works on hardener I will do 1/2 price plus shipping

I guess I’m worried about mixing different companies products. If it can be done than getting just a hardener would be the way to go
I have a bunch of extra hardener if u need .

Do they come out of the mold when you do the color switching ?
-
Is picture #4 using the same dye and flake as # 3 ?

I agree - If you are closing for a move or what ever - you must inform your customer base of what is happening. Keep them well informed or you just mite loose some or a lot of business.

Years ago - apx. 15 or so - I was thinking this hobby was making me feel off . I took the SDS sheet to my doctor. He told me nothing on it looks bad. Later I found out that its the fumes from it, not the plastisol it self. Maybe the SDS sheets have changed to warn you about the fumes ?? But then they hid it from us.
