  1. Yup, It's faster and safer than any router table. And, no mess or nail holes to fill.
  2. Here is the way I round my musky baits and it works great. There is a rubber sheet material that is manufactured in many different patterns and colors. It all has holes molded into the sheet with several patterns available. This material is sold in hardware stores as toolbox liner. You can also buy it at department stores or at the dollar stores where is sold as shelf liner for your kitchen cabinets. You can also buy it in the form of placemats for your kitchen table or coasters for your beverage container. Now, cut out a section of the rubber sheet material that is 3 to 4 times bigger that the biggest lure you make. Next, glue that piece to a board with contact cement. (It is important to glue the rubber sheet to the board). I use water based contact cement so it does not dissolve the rubber. Now, you have a very "grippy" surface to lay your baits on while you round the edges with your router. It is amazing how that rubber sheet holds the bait with just friction. This is very safe and quick and allows you to keep both hands on the router. I usually run 1 screw through the rubberized board into the work bench to keep the board from sliding around. I originally bought this stuff because of the interesting pattern of holes in the sheet. The stuff sold as shelf liner has just the right hole pattern to make an excellent walleye pattern if you use the right paint combo.
  3. I used my Hobby Lobby 40% off coupon to buy the Iwata HP-CS kit. Like stated above it was $189.99 before the dicount. Later that day I saw the some thing for $119.00 from Coast Airbrush Supply. I had to buy a hose for it because the "kit" did not come with a hose. But Coast was the cheapest on the hose too.
  4. I too use a digital scale for some stages of lure builbing. I use mine for measureing out equal parts of Envirotex and epoxy. You can really get accurate measurements doing it that way.I bought my scale off of Ebay for way under $10.00. It has five modes of measurements including grams, grains, carots, and a couple others I can't recall.
  5. One thing I can tell you about adding weight to PVC baits is drilling the holes in the body for the lead weakens the strength of the body severely. If you cast the bait into a rock or something hard the bait will break in two.
  6. I think it stands for poly vinyl chloride. If you have the white plastic drain pipes in your house, it's that stuff.
  7. My local Home Depot does not have it but, my local Lowe's store does have it. That's where I buy mine. You have to go to the lumber section where they sell exterior trim. It comes in 4" & 6" widths X 8' long. Just be sure to buy the kind with 2 smooth sides. Some of it has 1 smooth side and one side like rough cedar. My Lowe's has both. You just need to look. Many of the store employee's just don't know.
  8. I think if you pull the plunger out of the back you could pour it in. I might give that a try.
  9. Yeah, I should have said LIQUID ounce. A liquid ounce of oil does not weigh the same as a liquid ounce of water. I appreciate all of the helpful answers so far. I have picked up some good tips. But I still would like to know if the resin and the hardener weigh the same, and if not , what is the mix ratio. Thanks
  10. Does anyone mix Etex by weighing both parts? If so, does one ounce of resin weigh the same as one ounce of hardener? If not, what is the formula for mixing by weight? If you weigh it what type of scale do you use and where is a good place to buy the scale. I had some problems last year with one batch coming out soft. I am currently measuring in the clear plastic condiment cups like you find at a fast food restaurant. I set them side by side and pour what appears to be exact amounts in each one ,then dump them both in a larger mixing cup.
  11. Thanks for the great answers. I do have another problem concerning my airbrush. I have a Paasche VL dual action I bought used off of Ebay. It seems I cannot get a light mist from the brush. I am new to airbrushing so I really do not know alot about it. after pulling the trigger back about half way it starts to spray at about the same volume as a rattle can. It seems to me I should be able to control the volume of paint a little more than that. I have tried varying PSI up to 40 lbs. I am using Createx paint which is supposed to be airbrush ready. I have even tried thinning the Createx a little. with no difference. I have disassembled the brush several times to make sure it is clean. I have checked to make sure all of the needles , tips, and nozzles match up with each other. What do you think the problem is?
  12. The little ketchup cups from the fast food restaurants work very well.
  13. I am having a problem getting a good scale pattern paintjob with my airbrush. I have a dual action brush and I am using nylon net as my scale pattern. I am using Createx paints. I am trying to spray pearl white over pearl silver. My problem is this. In order to get the pearl white to cover over the pearl silver, it is taking quite a bit of paint. Then, when I remove the netting I have a big runny mess because the paint has run under the netting. I am new to lure making and air brushing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  14. I just bought a new rotisserie motor off of Ebay. The guy had about 40 of them and I paid $17.00 or $18.00 dollars for it. The guy was located in Toledo, Ohio. It turns about 2.5 rpm.
