  1. From what I understand it does. They came downstream from Lake Lanier which has a ton of blue back herring.
  2. Hi guys, I'm a relatively new member here and would like to add some input from my perspective if I may. First of all, That is some impressive cabinet work! I know because I've done custom woodworking. I googled luremaking and found a few sites and almost payed a good bit of money for what I now know was just the basics. I found this site and more information than I have been able to digest. I believe the idea of limited access to non-members in order to wet their appetite is excellent. I believe redg8r has done an impressive job with this site especially since it's part time. If he could do this full time I predict the results would be outstanding. Sites will always have a change in membership. Some people will decide they have learned all they can and move on but you will always have new members coming in. The site should keep growing and improving so the members continually have something new and interesting to them, thus they stay longer. As for the view of a novice. Well I haven't yet contributed much because I'm still at the learning stage. Which means that I know so little it seems like everything has been covered or discussed before. I have jumped into luremaking and do intend on selling lures but I still feel (especially when I see the works of Art in the gallery) that I have nothing to contribute to the forum. In my defense I plan on contributing as soon as I feel I have something new and helpful to everyone. As for stealing ideas that is going to happen in the lure business. There is no way to stop it. All you can do is carve your niche and develope a name for yourself. Case in point: How many poppers are on the market that are identical to the Pop-R? The only way to keep your lure secret is to only fish it yourself by yourself. I can understand not wanting to tell everyone your secret technique or method that makes your bait special but basic luremaking knowledge should be openly shared. As for my lures I'm sure if it catches on well enought some big company will make their version. All I can do is carve my niche. Thanks to everyone here and I for one voted yes because I think the changes sound exciteing. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
  3. This is my original design. It has elements of a Dalton Special and the Gudebrod Blabbermouth. It is bigger than both of those and I just let my sanding come out with a shape I liked. It has alot more curves to it than those two baits.
  4. Thanks guys. I decided to make my own lures because I couldn't find any top water prop baits that I like. The original wood carving looks like a curvey Dalton Special. I took that basic design and made a mold. Once I had copies I decided to shape the resin lures and make a popper and a walker. I haven't finished the popper yet. The unique shape came when I smoothed the sides and front to see if it would walk the dog. It didn't and at first I was disappointed but then noticed it had an erratic fleeing baitfish action when jerked. It actually jumps out of the water sometimes. Catches fish too! I don't think they have seen any lure like it. I didn't weight the tail section. I'll try and get better pictures of the shape. The tail sits just a little lower because it's narrower. I dressed the treble myself. I'm not the best at tying. My hair jigs catch fish but that's because they're so ugly the fish haven't seen one like it before.
  5. Two weeks from a block of wood, to casting and one week with an air brush. All my thanks to the members here. Couldn't have done it without all the knowledge and tips here at Tackleunderground.
  6. Hi, I've been so enthralled with the pictures and information that it took me this long to find out about All Aboard. Well I love to tinker with stuff and love to fish, so as you can guess I wound up tinkering with my fishing stuff. I'm interested in everything and have done a bit with rod and reel repair, spinner and buzz baits, soft plastics (designed a crawgrub that I still might mess with), and now I've graduated from tinkering and modifying my hard baits, to starting one from a piece of wood. I'm in the prototype stage now. Just bought an airbrush so now something new to learn. Hopefully soon I will be able to contribute to the forum. Thanks guys P.S. The baits on this site are truly impressive!
  7. Here are some colors from Louisiana. Top: Mostly for Trout/ Pearl and Clear Salt & Pepper Middle: For Redfish/ Rootbeer, Black back, Gold flake/ Chartreuse tail Bottom: For Redfish/ Avocado, Red Flake/Chartreuse tail These worked well for us. The water was slightly stained most of the time. As usual the darker the water is the darker the plastics I would use.
