  1. You sure have my full attention Dave.

    :)

The only part I do not know how to make is the former as I have no metal working tools...

I have taken a look at the hagen's former too and it seems pretty good but as I see it your solution can deliver the whole wireform and the hagen's can only form single eyes and all of the measuring has to be done by hand each single time...

It works really well and with the former I have modelled for you, I think you will like it. One thing, do not make the former out of round bar, it does not work at all. The wire rides up the radius. Don't ask me how I know this. If you need any detail/dimensioned drawings, let me know, but I think it is straight forward enough.

I have no money for defending patents, though it could be patentable I guess. You could patent it, just pay me, LOL.

I have started drawing my next project in the suite of swimbait tools. I am not revealing it yet, but I can guarantee it will blow you away.

  2. I see only one problem bend and that is the bend from the belly eye towards the tail. This will have to be started manually, as the former too cannot get in there because of the previous bends. Not a great hardship.

    Dave

Wow.. That is impressive yet simple.. Thanks dave.

Btw; did you allready patent this thing?

    ;)

  3. Can you post a pic of a wire form that you are wanting to make. A rule in the pic would help for scaling. Also what material and thickness.

I may have something for you. I have just built a wire former for bending/folding tow eyes and wire links for my swimbaits. I may well be adaptable for your application.

    Dave

    Thanks Dave,

Here is a drawing of the kind of forms I would like to bend.

Length aprox. 20 cm. Thick wire (Musky Pike).

  4. Hi guys,

What kind of tool do you use to make wirethrough's?

I am looking for something like a tabletop bender-tool and

I have been looking at some of the commercial wire benders but not sure if those are what i could use, they seem to be used for spinners etc.

    Thanks

  5. Thanks guys! Todd sure makes some great footage.

Besides being fun, this underwater footage is very helpful in looking at your design from a different angle.

If any of you ever want some shot; Todd is the man, mainly because he enjoys doing it.

    ;)

Now just hope for a strike on film, fingers crossed!

    Have a nice weekend

  6. This vid was shot by my buddy Frans at the Visma 2010 sportfishing fair wich was being held end op March in Rotterdam - The Netherlands. There were no hooks attached to Esox, so no harm done, lot of fun though. The catfish had a big interest in this little JackPike. ;)

  7. Hi guys,

This weekend I finally got a chance to get up on the water again.

    :)

Needless to say that that was a great feeling!

    yes.jpg

I also got a chance to shoot some first footage of esox in action,

let me know what you think of the action!

  8. That would be a good idea. At the moment my spraybooth is mostly used for catching fumes while casting urethane, when I am spraying I usually wear a dustmask or filtered mask, but spray in fromt/outside of the booth, so it does not make much sense now..

And as I am working in a very full small shop where I do my sanding and later my painting is is a nightmare to cleanup, dust and paint , and painted dust everywhere!

Lol.. so it does need some improvement.

What kind of motor / fan would you suggest? I have been reading on the net about squirrel-cage motors?

And yes, safety first! As much as I love to build baits, I don't want to be blown to kingdom come for it.

    Thanks again!

  9. Thanks for the reply and sorry for my late one..

That is an impressive looking unit you have there clamboni.

As I said at the moment I use an old kitchenvent build into my spraybooth, and it works fine for airbrushing and catching fumes but I do not use a filter and that leaves a mess.

What I would like to do is be able to spray the 2k laquers, but for that I will need a more powerful vent. Especially for my health because I have a small shop and the 2k stuff is nasty...

I did not think about the risk of explosion, but realize that that is truly something to keep in mind.

Would this be a great risk when shooting lures with a spot-repair gun?

And what kind of fans would be good to use?

I made a sketch of what I am thinking of, maybe easier to explain this way.

As I live in the netherlands, I have not seen any ready made spraybooths in the right size like you do have in the US, like the ones from paasche.

Over here it is or very big and expensive, used in the automotive industy or too small, like tabletop units.

    thanks again,

  10. Hi all,

I am thinking of building a more powerfull spraybooth for my airbrushing..I want to be able to spray 2k automotive laquer..and that is nasty stuff (especially in my tiny shop)so my current kitchenvent-setup does not really live up to that..lol.

Any suggestions? I remember seeing some cool photos here but I can not find the threads again.

    Thanks!

  11. How about if you cast them standing up vertical instead of lying on their side, would this help to center the weight ??????????? OR am I over-simplifying it.pete

Yes, that is an option, although this will mean that the belly of the lure will be up and so while casting resin with mb added, the mb will float up while curing -> to the belly, and you want the mb to be in the backpart of the lure. Puzzles...:?

  12. Thnx husky!

That is what I have done before; works great for single piece lures. But I want to use it on a swimbaits-head. And the weight already attached to the wireframe; so it is kinda important that the weight is dead center. Some kind of lock would be cool; maybe a simple bold will do...

  13. Hi guys,

Here is some first underwater footage of my ''ESOX'' project filmed by my friend Todd.

It gives a unique view and marks out what has to be improved.

Im thinking of making it a bit longer and adding an extra joint in the tail, also the weighting has to be adjusted to get rid of the roll..

Let me know what you guys think!

    Thnx! :yay:
