  1. According to his directions the bend goes up,I don't think it would matter up or down as long as the open eye was facing to the front of jig.You could even have it u shape and go around the jig then it would never pull out.
  2. Something else you may look at,what size of clevis are you using,the hole may be to small (not enough play)for the size of wire you are using
  3. To me it looks like you have run the main shaft through the blade.The blade should only be on the clevis.

  5. I use a short piece of old solid fiberglass spinning rod, put one end in a varable speed drill and the small spool on the other end .
  6. I found a toaster oven at value village for $10.00 had one rack iI made another one and put threaded ron on both of them to hang jigs on,each rack will hold 126 3/4 oz. jigs,the smaller you go the more jigs they hold.

  9. I used a blade out of a utility knife,very lightly scrapping the surface of the mold it got most of the of the powder paint off then I took a brass wire brush to polish the mold up,mold came out pretty well clean.
  10. Thanks for the information ,This is the one my wholesale company carries for $197.44.I live in southern Ontario so prices will be more up here then in the USA.I only tie jigs 1/8 up to 2oz. Currently I use a regal vice and not really happy with it but it serves the purpose.Thinking on getting this one.I tie upwards of 5000 yr to supply a few sports shops.

I see on ebay there are 2 Griffin Montana Mongoose vices listed #1 is $261.42 #2 is $352.95.The #2 says it is a cam operated what does that mean ?Also what is the difference between the two for that much difference in price? I can get the #2 from the wholesaler for $197.44 he doesn't carry #1. #1 #2

  13. this is what I use.I took the two racks from my toaster oven and cut the smooth bars off,got some threaded rod and cut to size and had them welded on the frame,made up a holder to hold it at my desk. they will hold several hundred painted hooks at a time

  15. Last year April 26 I posted a picture looking for info on a jig a guy made, turned out to be the slider jig,A member from Cal.said he had one he would sell me .
  16. I live i southern Ontario and fish the bay of Quinte for walleye,we call them a rippin jig,they are good in the heavy weeds for rip fishing.
  17. I have poured a few hundred with the standard 1623 hook and non has ever spun on me. Here is the 1/2 oz. ones.

  19. That's just 1 inch Styrofoam with cardboard taped on the outside to give the staples something to bite into. I have a fan I put in front rotating back and forth for a day and night,then take them off cardboard pull staples and brush them out with a hairbrush.I ended up doing 165 this year.

    Here is the 2nd batch of tails,there are 71 tails just about dried

When I first started started deboning and cleaning deer tails I never washed them until after I deboned them they always had a bad odor to them and made a real mess on your hands,then I started washing them before I deboned them no more mess or smell. I have never got into tying flys or streamers I only do bucktail jigs any size up to 2 oz.
  22. I put them in a solution of alum and water for 2 weeks,there is no smell from them even after two years.I guess you call it pickling

    Deer Tails

    Picked up 14 tails today from the abattoir,by the time he is done skinning and cutting up the deer he will have 150+ for me,these are already washed will debone tonight then into the solution for 2 weeks. The one had black hair instead of brown.
