Thank you for the kind words, Apdriver. I enjoy making and designing jig patterns, and my business is really just a hobby for me. I try to make the best quality possible, sort of old school in my approach.

I am using the Owner 5318. My customers love them. They are a very sturdy hook for light wire. The hook up ratio is outstanding. I use a 2/0 on the 1/16 and 3/32 ounce, and a 3/0 on all the rest. The larger sizes fit well when paired with the Z man TRD (I believe 2.75") used green pumpkin heads and a green pumpkin TRD. Included is a picture of one of the many smallmouth bass I caught in June, 2017 at the St. Lawrence River, in the Alexandria bay, NY area. 5lb. even on my Mustad digital scale. Poured a lot of these jigs using Mustad 32786BLN with excellent results, no flaring. Dan

You may want to give a look at the new football trokar jig mold ( you can use a regular mustad hook in it). http://www.barlowstackle.com/Do-It-Trokar-Football-Weedless-Jig-Mold-P2743C242.aspx . It is a modified football head with a flat so that it can "stand up". I have been using the Mustad 32786BLN with very good results. Dan

Once you get the strands separated, you can use a small pocket comb to further separate the strands. I use it on my silicon skirts that I make, and it really removes the clumps of strands that sometimes form. I use the larger side of the comb first, then finish it with the finer side. Best Wishes. Ditto on the Loctite super glue gel. I use the locktite ultra gel in the blue plastic easy application squeeze bottle. It seems a little better designed for use outdoors, and I or my customers have had no complaints after 100's of jigs built. Best Wishes Dan http://www.oldhippyjigs.com

Been using them 2 years and all orders arrive within 3-4 days.

Here's a technique I use for custom paint on jig heads, but it is ment to paint spoons using translucent powder paints. This is courtesy of TJ's tackle. http://www.tjstackle.com/video/TjsTackle-Spoon-ThreeColor-HeatGun-512k.wmv Hope it helps you out. Best Wishes. Dan

Try Columbia coatings at http://www.columbiacoatings.com/category_s/5.htm or Powder by the pound at http://www.powderbuythepound.com/catalog/index.php They both give you the option of small quantities of powders in a wide variety of colors, textures, and effects. Dan

Thank you for the kind words. The paint technique was picked up from a video on TJ's Tackle site, describing how to paint a spoon without an air brush. I just adaped it and used it on my jigs. To see the video go to http://www.tjstackle.com/video/TjsTackle-Spoon-ThreeColor-HeatGun-512k.wmv , and that will explain it better than I can in words. Best Wishes. Dan

Rusty Crayfish, Old Hippy Brand Bass Jigs Custom Bass Series Jig. Custom paint on the head using layered powder applied by brush. Heat the jig with a heat gun, and load the brush, and tap the handle of the brush to let a light amount of powder fall stratigicly on the head. Base layer is Pumpkin brown, accent layers in brown/red, white dots, and transparent copper. Harden paint, then apply diamond clear coat, and harden again.
