Custom Paint Booth

I am selling my custom built paint booth. I spent over $300 in building it last spring and it took me several hours. It includes the booth and the table I built for it to sit on. It is a large booth capable of painting numerous lures at a time. I have some neat removable lure racks built for it that will hold 15 lures. It has an exhaust system and built in light. The table has a shelf in the bottom for paint. Located near the VA/Tennessee border near Bristol. Can meet you with it near by.

    Solarez Haze?

Finally achieved a clarity I think I can live with. I heated the paint with a heat gun and then dipped it. I let it hang for 10 minutes and then checked on it. I could still see the haze but noticed it was starting to sag towards the bottom. I checked it every 5 minutes until it had been hanging for 45 minutes. Each time I could see the haze move further and further to the bottom. I finally stuck it in the nail light and it turned out better. I could still see the haze towards the bottom of my test bait, aka a spoon. I'm thinking on a bait it will be better since this will be the hook hanger. It was still not crystal clear but I do not paint a lot of solid black backed lures. Getting closer.

    Solarez Haze?

I have been allowing the samples to sit for bout 5 minutes. I will go test 10 minutes. I do love the fact that I can do testing several times without having to wait hours to see the results.I'll be back in a few to report.

    Solarez Haze?

Got a reply from a Solarez tech. "That sounds like the resin cured with wax mixed in the matrix. Put the resin down and allow about two minutes for the wax to rise and separate itself from the resin matrix (before curing)." So I made sure to do this. Used a 15 second on, 30 second off, 15 second on, 30 second off and then 30 and 30 until cured. End result....

    Solarez Haze?

30 on and 30 off did nothing to help the haze for me. I have used both the eBay nail light and the GE black lights. Same result so far.

    Solarez Haze?

Exactly! I understand all of the benefits are great but if this is the end result then I wouldn't use it if I was selling my products. I tried to polish it some but didn't like the results either.

    Solarez Haze?

I've posted on here about the haze I am getting and some said they have it too but I'm doubting it's this bad. I can't have dark colors look like this. I shined a light into the container and could see some kind of cloud of film on top. Does anybody else see this in their container? Maybe I got a bad batch. I'm using Createx paints for what it's worth.
  9. I've been away from painting for a couple yeas now. I stopped when I graduated college a couple years ago and then I started grad school. Ive since got married and now I teach high school history and coach football, so I've stayed busy since I stopped painting. I've kept up to date on things by reading posts from you guys. I now have some time since we are in the offseason with football. I decided to pick it back up. I sold all of my stuff so I'm starting from scratch. First thing I wanted was a new booth design. I really like what I came up with. I've attached an image of it. The racks are on a lazy susan swivel and I went with hackle pliers to hold the baits. So far it's been great.
  10. I got my Solarez two days ago and did some testing. I poured a thin layer into an aluminum dish and used the nail dryer to harden it. When it finished i took it out of the dish and it was obviously not clear. It was clear with an almost marble effect of cloudiness. I tried it on a lure and got the same result. I have been putting it in the nail dryer with 30 second intervals until it is hard. I was so excited for this stuff. Need to figure out what I am doing wrong.
  11. I'm not a big fly fisherman but noticed some lures at Orvis called a Softy. They were made of a soft rubbery material with Mylar inside. Anybody know how to make them or what that soft material would be.
  12. This mold was never defective. Patrick was too impatient to learn how to put in the eyelets or was using the wrong one. Anyone who knows a Shawn Collins custom will know this.
  13. Selling a new Shawn Collins custom mold. This mold has less than 100 pours from only two of the 8 cavities. The mold is a swinging shakey head mold. It is similar to the Biffle Hardhead. There are 8 cavities: 1/16 (2) - 1/8 3/16 (2) - 1/4 3/8 1/2 The mold uses #0 eyelets and I will include over 300 with the purchase. You can use just about any kind of hook you want in the mold. The jig also features a flat bottom similar to the Spot Remover. It pours extremely smooth jigs as expected with Shawn Collins. Paid over $150 for the mold and had to wait awhile. Price includes shipping and eyelets.
  14. I bought this stuff to start making my own soft plastics. I enjoyed it but just don't have the time for it. I'm selling everything at 30% off. Original price was over $175 for everything, now only $95. I've used some of the plastic, you can see in the pictures that it is just down to the neck of the bottle. it's still 3/4 full but I did pro-rate all items that had use. I've used just a little of the softener, as you can also see in the pics. As for the coloring, I think the black is the only that has any more than a few drops out of it. I think it is 3/4 full. I only used a 1/8 tsp of the black glitter. This lot includes all M-F products: M-F Super Soft Plastic - 3/4 Gallon M-F Plastic Softener - Almost a Pint 13 1oz bottles of coloring:

Black
Opaque White
Transparent Watermelon
Opaque Watermelon Brow
Transparent Pumpkin
Opaque Red
Opaque Yellow
Black Grape
Opaque Orange
Transparent Blue
Transparent Grape
Transparent Strawberry
Opaque Pearl
8 containers of glitter:

Large Flake, Black
Small Flake, Black
Large Flake, Red
Small Flake, Red
Large Flake, Blue
Large Flake, Green
Large Flake, Silver
Large Flake, Gold
Anise Worm Oil - 3/4 of a 2oz bottle PayPal only. Price includes shipping.
