  1. Just a follow-up.... I hadn't ordered directly from M-F and it seems I was mistakenly given the regular instead of the supersoft. I mixed some up using the ratio of softner to plastic provided to me from the folks at M-F and it fixed the issue. My hats off to the guys at M-F...even though I didn't buy direct from them they were more than willing to help solve the problem.

I have a friend who is making molds now and might be able to help you. Not sure what program he's using but he's very knowledgeable and puts out a great product. Here's the link to his facebook site...he's got a website too but I can't remember the address. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Angling-AI-llc/219253348108529?sk=wall#!/pages/Angling-AI-llc/219253348108529?sk=wall#!/photo.php?fbid=232767536757110&set=a.219341214766409.62497.219253348108529&type=1&theater
  3. I've been using M-F's super soft plastic for the last few years and love it. I ordered 5 gallons recently and it seems like it's different. While heating and going through the "jelly" phase it seems much thicker and not nearly as viscous as it used to. The end products are not nearly as soft and the plastic seems different. Is it possible I got a mislabeled 5 gallons of the regular or saltwater stuff? Has anyone else noticed a difference? Did I miss a change awhile ago ( previous 5 gallons was from last year) and am just late?
  4. If you're adding the scent to your plastic while cooking it you'll want to add a little worm oil or scent to your bag if you want them slimy looking but they really don't "stick" together and this is clearly personal preference. When de-molding you don't need anything special to accomplish this...they pull out easily and no oil or spray is needed on the mold. It depends on what I'm pouring as to how I handle them. For stick baits I just lay them flat/straight on my bench and bag them the next day. For some of the craws, grubs, etc I throw them in a big bowl of cool water. What you want to avoid is having the bait cool/cure in a distorted shape. If you bag up some warm stickbaits as a jumbled mess...they're gonna cure that shape.
  5. How? I'd like to do some laminates with some grubs, craws and stickbaits of course....how are you guys doing these with a hand injector?
  6. That's a beautiful looking jig!!
  7. Hey cadman...is it possible to resend all the info you sent me? I can't find it in my emails anywhere!
  8. Thanks for the info! I see the snootie jig is favored by you both but it leads me to a question. I thought most swim jig designs used the 30 degree hook....which the poison tail and grass use. I see the snootie uses a 60 degree...do you see a difference? Do they run true the majority of the time? Also, if I used thread, what's a bobbin and why is it needed? Forgot to add...what size uni thread would be used for bass jigs?
  9. I'd like to hear what everyone feels is the best swim jig head on the market. I really like the heads Bassdozer uses but I can't find a similar mold and he's not interested in selling them unpainted or unskirted. The poison tail from do-it comes closest but not quite the same. Anyone try the Boss swim jigs? It doesn't really matter to me whether I pour my own jigheads or find someone that makes them and will sell them unpainted at a reaonable price. I'm most interested in designing and tying my own skirts although I'm not sure if it will be with thread or wire. I like the idea of using some flashabou for added flash...does this require anything special with regards to tying? Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated...btw, I'm not looking to sell just design some for tournament use for myself and some friends. I pour a lot of plastic (myself and friends) but really had a lot of luck with swim jigs last year!
  10. When mixing paints for different colors what's the process you use? Do you mix it in a seperate container and trial it through the airbrush as you adjust the mix for the proper color? Also, do I need to thin the creatix brand paint at all? And finally, Do the translucent colors mix the same or do you achieve the color by layering in the bait? Sorry for so many questions...I used the search function and got most my questions answered but these remained unanswered. I picked up some blanks, got an airbrush and some paint and I can't wait to start painting...gonna spend some time practicing on PVC pipe though! Thanks!
  11. Wished I would have read this thread before ordering some stuff. My order from LC was here in 3 days! My order from Del has been a week with an unanswered phone call and email...I too paid for 2-3 day shipping. That's not right.
