  1. Does anyone know how Dwain Batey does his bleeding pattern? Does he use a red Sharpie on the bait abd then it smudges when it clears our is he using a transparent red paint? I'm stumped. He's the man.
  2. Well I gave it a shot. I went through my mom's scrapbooking stuff and could only find gingerbread men and star stamps....so I just cut them out with an exacto knife. I was pretty pleased with the results. I think I just need to work on the spacing a little. Here is a picture.
  3. I was wondering if anyone knows how or where to get the scales for doing the lucky craft 'crack' color (or gunmetal). I know that Cullin8's has figured it out. I could use tape and cut out each individual scale and carefully put it on the bait, but that would take forever. I don't want to just slap the generic lure tape on. I am looking for the seperated scale look. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Here is my second group of lures. I learned a few things and think I'm getting the hang of it.

  11. I just ordered 15 unpainted DD 3/8 oz from Barlow's. They are very similar to Norman's but the action is a hair different, better in my opinion. They aren't Luck Craft's, won't last forever, but they catch fish. Quick story, several years ago my buddies dad was using a lure that was a local brand. He was winning money with them and bought up all that he could get his hands on in his favorite color. The lure company went out of business, and he couldn't get his favorite color any more. Last week my buddy gave me a couple of those old lures to paint. I began looking online and found the 3/8oz DD from Barlow's was the exact same as that old lure. I guess the local guy was just buying blanks and painting them for sale.
