  1. Hello,

I want to buy lips (Lexan and Fiber board) and belly weights for crank baits, does anyone have a link other than Janns?

I have done many searches on the net but have come up empty, I did find one site that has just what I want but they will not reply or answer the phone.

    Thanks

    Dan

    Dan,

On page 53 if you download or just look on line they have lips down in lower left, They also had a little book with very helpful hints and procedures. I haven't dealt with them in a few years but when I did they were good to deal with. They had good pricing also.

    http://www.hagensfish.com/

Around page 62 or 63 they have lips.

These guys are in the U.S. and fantastic pricing. Just pay attention to the pricing , usually its based on 1000 pcs.

    best O' luck

  2. I found a producer of PVC material...

    Rod, Bar & Machining Stock

I called them and they gave me a number for a local distributor whom I called and order some PVC rounds... Looking fwd to "playing" As you can see they have different shapes and sizes of rectangular as well. Pretty reasonable prices.. 1" rounds x 5ft were $3.98 ea. plus s&h. just my :twocents:

  3. Atrophius... lol I needed that I am one crabby guy right now... affraid to touch or kiss Mrs. Goonsdad for fear of spreading???. I cant smile without skin cracking just outside my nose. However i was able to drink a beer without any real issues:sauced:. So along that line... Mrs. Goonsdad had mono a month ago, I had my 1st alergic reaction 3 weeks ago and now again... love tinkering with the lures... but love Mrs. Goonsdad more... been a long"fun" month... he said very sarcastically. :pissed:

  4. Sounds goofy I know, but has anyone had any "break outs" after using Minwax sealer/ hardener? I am trying to narrow down where this is coming from. I have some spots on my arm where I felt the microscopic drops hit, that I understand, but its also around my nose and mouth and I am wondering if just the fumes alone that I am that alergic to. By no means was I sniffing... just painting it on a piece of wood. The garage door was open and a nice air movement. Either that or my shaving cream.. but I have shaved several times since the first time this happened and didn't break out. The first time I just chocked it up to stressful day at work... but no stress lately. Not trying to bash Minwax, If it is, then I have to go about things differently. Thanks folks

  5. Vodkaman,

My saliva glands go nuts with the thoughts of a bloody mary from some neat bar up near Spart Wisconsin. ........ sorry lost my train of thought.

I agree that the intial cut with the side cutting would have to be thought out well. I was thinking that if you had the "pattern" have a slope on the "feed in" to the body so that it was a gradual cut versus just dropping it into the body and having your wood "shoot your eye out" when it popped out. Obviously that is time wasted ... time is money.. money is competition. Gotta go dinner bell just rang:twocents:

  6. Redneck!!! AHH a man after my own heart. I have been red since I was 17 and everyone else was listening to late 70's and early 80's rock and I had Willie on the radio. Well back to the topic at hand... Hagen's has a nice wire bender and decent prices in their catalog, they advertise on here occasionally. google "solarbor peachhost" for balsa. As far as painting there are some true VanGoghs on here, just search "painting" and look at the gallery. There are many posts with tons of info to research and digest. My man cave has no heat.. so lots of sufing this winter and bending wire in the basement... best of luck

  7. As though we don't have enough politics in Illinois/ "State of Chicago", just introduced to the Senate last week, was a ban on lead sinkers and jigs. Call your senators and express your displeasure, there are more important things to worry about than minute chance a bird digs in the mud and finds a split shot and swallows it. In the bill it does address lure making. Section 2 line 3 para. "e" . For more info you can google: illinois general assembly senate bill sb1269:boo:

Does anyone know what the comperable material is that can be used in place of lead?

Time to go to the fishing show and... :tipsy:

  8. There is also the book " Small Business for Dummies" out there... not much for pictures... thats a joke. If only I could stay awake for more than a paragraph at the end of the day.zzzzz. God gave us all a creative mind... there are many designs and shapes that haven't been thought of yet. Plenty o' fishermen to be... I mean fish to be caught

Bountiful is right on about starting out small... unless of course you already did and the lures are selling like hotcakes and you are ready to take the next step and go into true "mass production" dozens or hundreds per day where you may need to buy what it takes to do that. Borrow small.. use profits after that to grow. Does Tackle Underground offer "BAILOUTS"?

  9. Wow 10% excise tax.. ouch thats comes out to about 30% of the material costs on my spinner bait that I was going to charge. thanks for that heads up... will definitely adjust the sell price. Being from Illinois and all, who knows where that money ends up going. Blago's attourney fee's?
