  1. Will the Pac Bay epoxy mixer that Mudhole sells work well with Etex? Has anyone tried this? I've tried to search for my answer with no luck.
  2. Good, I was hoping so. Thanks Ben! Good, I was hoping so. Thanks Ben!
  3. I am using Createx colors. I would like to shoot with transparent black but all I have is opaque black. Can I add some Createx transparent bases. I read that it is used to increase transparency but will it be ineffective on an opaque color? Does anybody have experience with this? Thanks in advance.
  4. thanks for the followup Mark
  5. Did you ever get a good comparison on these?
  6. awesome! Great idea to use a sharpie for those lines!

    Threadfin Shad Decal

I think that looks better than most photo/foils I've seen. Great idea!
  8. is that britebak or regular aluminum foil? Did you have trouble foiling around the contours of the fat free shad or was it about as straight forward as the rattle baits? btw, the are awesome!!!
  9. Awesome! Fat Free Shad, right? What did you use to foil? Did you have trouble with creases when applying the foil or did it lay pretty flat first try? I've been wanting to foil some Deep Little N's. Great blending too!
  10. airbrushextreme, I went to System Three's web site to look around and am not sure exactly what product you are talking about. Hoping you could tell me which you use. They seem to have many different types. I may try this stuff out. thanks!
  11. thanks Bob. I seem to be finding more and more reasons to take that next step and start looking into DN...at least for some of my projects it seems like the way to go.
  12. I'm wondering if I paint and coat a Lucky Craft slender pointer 97mr in etex, will it add too much weight and ruin its ability to suspend...? Anybody have any experience with this? I'm always afraid to take chances with $15 baits.
  13. are these Yo-zuri or Xcalibur? They came out great!
  14. Pete, I was confused too but thanks just the same. I saw your electronic picture frame and "duh" why didn't I think of that. I've been looking for a place in the garage to set up my old desktop computer for color examples. Mark, Thanks again, you've been a lot of help! Luke

That how most of my baits end up. The patterns I am trying to achieve never seem to come out like I intend and most of the patterns I am happy with came about by accident. I just wanted to ask about those eyes. Are they regular 3d eyes cut to size or did they come like that. If they came like that, would you be willing to divulge your source? Thanks!
  16. Thanks! Do you think a lacquer or urethane would hold up to hook rash and bass mouths? I have seen a couple of these on eBay, so I know its possible, I just lose my nerve real easy when playing with Lucky Craft baits.
  17. I've done some searching and still am unsure what I need to do. I am wanting to topcoat a repaint of an old rc 2.5 jointed wake bait. You all may or may not know that these have really tight joints. I only have experience using etex and I am pretty sure it will not work in this case. I saw that the Rookie stated in an old post about spraying a topcoat used on tractors. I googled that and am still unsure what I am looking for. Any advice would be much appreciated. I sure hate to ruin a Lucky Craft so I want to make sure before I go any further. Thanks guys!
  18. I don't know much about building cranks from scratch but I do know you never want to get super glue all over your fingers.
  19. I just tried again on that Cordell Spot and it went on perfectly! I can't believe I didn't think of that before. I guess I was making it more difficult than it really was. Thanks again Bob.
  20. Thanks Bob! That is exactly what I needed to know. My problem was that I was trying to wrap the whole lure with one big piece of tape.
  21. Can anyone give me some pointers on avoiding creases and folds when applying this tape. I'm thinking that I may need to make some cuts in it to get it to lay flat around odd-shaped edges. I tried burnishing some of this out but it didn't seem to help all that much. My first test subject with this tape is an old Cordell Rattlin' Spot. That should be a good basic lure shape to get used to using this foil tape, right? I just hate to keep wasting it, as much as it costs. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Luke
  22. Caribbean blue is what you want. I would: start with an opaque white undercoat, then go over that with pearl white. Fade from the top down with the blue. Then add some glitter to whatever you clear coat with. Thats just how I would do this. I forgot if createx has a pearlescent light blue, but if they do, that might be better than plain caribbean blue. Or you could even add a touch of silver pearl to the blue to pearlize it. The glitter should do just fine though. I curious to see how others would interpret this recipe. Luke on a second look, I think I might see some green mixed in at the very top. If so, I'm way off.
  23. Thanks. I guess I just gotta suck it up and bite the bullet.
