  1. Just wanted to give my two cents on how to acquire a microwave oven to heat plastic for pouring. I have three kids in college and had to furnish their apartments with furniture, kitchen utensils etc. I did it all by shopping garage sales. Two weeks ago I found a Sharps Microwave oven which was still packaged in the original box. The owner had used it during the deer season at their deer camp and was giving up his lease. I paid $20.00 for virtually a brand new microwave. I have bought two or three others at garage sales and normally pay $10.00 to $20.00. I make the owners heat up a cup of water to ensure it works. Beats ebay or Craigs list hands down. Thanks to everyone for the information they share on this site. Hope this helps someone. Regards, Pat
  2. The pour hole is about the diameter of the Yum Dinger and yes I do pour until the plastic fills up the top. The mold has two Senko style and 2 yum Dinger cavities.
  3. In the last three weeks I have gone through more plaster of paris than I did in cub scouts 45 years ago. I have made several molds and have successfully poured some stick baits. When I pour the larger stick baits, (Yum Dinger 7.25 inch), the bait comes out fine with the exception that I get a sink hole (hollow middle) in the last 1-1.5 inches of the bait toward the pour hole. I must say that not always. Sometimes I get the full bodied bait that I am looking for, but probably 75% of the time I am not satisfied. I am remelting same color plastic worms in the microwave and pouring out of a pyrex cup. This sink hole doesn't seem to happen when I pour the 5 inch Senko style baits. Am I not heating the plastic long enough and it is cooling down by the time I reach the top of the larger mold? Is using the remelted worms instead of plastisol causing this? Or could this be an air venting problem in the mold itself? If I have learned anything about this hobby, it is that is is definately a trial and error process. And the wealth of information on this forum is endless. If any of you can guide a newbie in this area, I would certainly appreciate your input. Pat

    9" Swimmies

Look great. Do you use a single hook for a swimbait that size? What, about a 12/0? I have used large swimbaits up to 7 inches and cant seem to get the lures to consistently run straight. Great looking baits!
  5. Just curious if anyone has tried melting down and reusing Strike King 3X plastics? Would they retain their durability and float ability?
