I have ordered my airbrush, which should be on its way now. Now I am asking for suggestions for which paints to use and where to buy them for the best price. Would the Flourescent Laquer from Cabela's be fine for the job and is this a good price? Or, should I go with the Vinyl Jig & Lure Paint from Cabela's? Oh! any links to video tutorials would be appreciated. I'm sure I will only learn certain things along the way, but anything that will help me get ideas on this will also be appreciated.

I was wondering what the all time favorite paint is. Upto now I have just tried powder paint, which I stoped using do to it chipping away to easy. Even if I were to let it drop on the tile floor, it would chip away. So, I decided to switch over to spray paint. Which comes in a wide variety of colors as well. It doesn't chip as easy as the powder paint (in my own opinion). But it is still not what I am looking for. Even after I clear coat the jig, it can still get scratched quite easily. I've also tried clear varnish, but I don't think its quite what I am looking for. Can clear varnish substitute epoxy coating your paint? I'm just trying to find the best way to go, until I get my airbrush. (after tax return) Then a whole new dilema will come up. What will the best paint to use with the airbrush? How do I make it chip/scratch resistant? But for now I ask you all, what is your favorite paint?

Seems like you just made business with the wrong company. If I may give my opinion. Your initial comunication with them should of been to ask for samples of their product. Then you would of had a better idea of the quality of the product you were going to purchase up front. But, since you have already done the purchase. You should contact the company and tell them that you will be sending them back their product for a full refund. Do not keep the good ones just send the whole package back. You should also email them this information and even send a letter with the package. Its a shame that you have to go through all of this. I can only imagen that you got a great deal for these jigs. Considering the fact that the cost of making these jig heads in the Dominican Republic should be so low, that the manufacturer can give you such a low price. Maybe you can get a better deal in the US when you weigh the benefits of getting a better quality product. If I may ask... What was the deal that you got on these jigs?

How about spray paint. The price of a can can start at about $1.50 per can. With many colors to choose from. If you want it to be more durable just give 2 coats and finish off with a clear coat. You can even buy glitter at your local walmart and after the second coat of the color spray paint. Sprinkle some sparkle on the jig while the paint is still wet. Then finish off with the clear coat. One can of spray paint can paint at least 50 jigs. Plus you can look much cooler going to the hardware to get your spray paint then going to the nail section and filling the handbasket with nail polish.

i'm trying to tie jigs. using crimped nylon. do you have a picture of the machine you have? how much did you pay for yours?

I have been meaning to give them a call. I read on a post somewhere that they are willing to send sample of there fishair material. So, I guess that when i call them i will be mentioning the jig tying machine. If anyone else knows anything, please let me know...

Pop, I think that what Cadman means is that. if 1/4 says 3/0; you can go with 2/0, 3/0 and 4/0 and if 5/16 says 4/0; you can go with either 3/0, 4/0 and 5/0. For example I have the Style H Jig BTH-5-A Sizes (oz.) 3/8 1/2 5/8 3/4 1 Hook Sizes 2/0 3/0 3/0 4/0 5/0 3/8 i can use 1/0, 2/0 and 3/0 1/2 i can use 2/0, 3/0 and 4/0 5/8 i can use 2/0, 3/0 and 4/0 3/4 i can use 3/0, 4/0 and 5/0 1 oz. i can use 4/0, 5/0 and 6/0 there are also some exeptions where you can use 2 sizes up. for example on my 1oz. i have used upto 7/0. but i have found that there is no true difference. except for the fact that your going to have to use more tying material. since you will have a longer shank on a 7/0 than on a 5/0. so if you don't mind using more tying material to cover the actual hook, go with the largest size you can fit in. and if you want to use less tying material go with the smallest size hook you can fit. Hope this cleared us any doubts. Good Luck.

that mold uses 630 and 635 eagle claws. if you want extra strong hooks go here. there you will be able to see the hooks and see if they can be used on jig molds rated for use with 630 - 635 eagle claws. If you want to search better prices just write down the names of the hooks that you will find there and do a google search for them. good luck. let us know how you did out and which one you finally picked.

I have heard of a "Jig Tying Machine", but have never actually been able to see one. I have made various searches on google and the only thing I came up with was a forum archive of a member mentioning that he had one and that would be willing to use it with the forum members to make a lot of jigs for a jig tying festival. But, this was an old archive and I tried to email the person and got a reply that the email no longer existed. So, if anyone actually knows anything about it, I would appreciate some pictures or better explination of what this is...
