Heres a range of lures i build and sell, a few in action here -
There shallow divers and yeah its a 10p they weigh about 3g each -
is there a certain foil to use for baits or would you just use standard baking foil and is it applied using impact adhesive think i'll have a play about see how good i am at foiling baits

heres a musky mania squirrly burt copy i did from hardwood balanced with the trace it takes around 20 seconds to rise from 3' deep so hangs rather nicely -
some turbo tadpoles i built from hi density injection moulded foam, my local chub love them

other than devcon are there any alternatives to envirotex that still give a great glossy finish?

like bezy said a nice hardwood would be more suited, i tried one out of a piece of high density foam (trimboard) it was around 5" long and i had to make a pocket in the lure and put a 4oz ball lead in then drill tiny amounts out of the lead until it sank but once finished the overall weight is 4oz+ where a wooden equivelant maybe more like 3oz and far easier to work with. mark i have some .013" ali shim i've found at work thatsideal for making templates from if you want some sending?

i'll be spraying barewood mainly, i normally apply a coat of wood varnish so the wood doesn't absorb any water while i balance the lure up, so after that would a thin coat of etex then a spray over with createx white be sufficient before shooting some colours?

yes the bait will require ballast but there should be just enough room to squeeze it in inbetween the wire frame just below the centre line and i'll pocket the pvc out to accept the bends in the wire

i believe the original is a sluick thriller -
this is currently my favourite style of glide bait i make it works a treat its 4.5" long and weighs around 70g -
