Friend of mine fished his club tourney on Rayburn last weekend and the guy that won it had one over 11 and another one over 8. Guess the fish are starting to bite.

I have a confession to make. Week before last I was a contributor to global warming. The daytime temps had been nice which meant the windows were open, but it was getting into the low 30's at night hence the lighting of the heater. This went on for a couple of nights before realizing all the windows hadn't been closed. I was trying to heat the whole dang neighborhood!!! One thing about getting older is that you'd better learn to laugh at yourself.

Went to Toledo Bend yesterday. Weather forecast said winds of 3 to 8 MPH. I think the weatherman forgot to add a zero to the back of the 3 and 8. Weathermen.............don't ya just hate 'em?

It was tough Skeeter. Think I only had 4 bites all day and caught 2 keepers. My buddy caught a couple short fish and lost a couple keepers. The fish didn't seem very aggressive at all. I couldn't even get them to hit a wacky rig and it's got to be bad before I resort to that sucker. It usually catches fish when nothing else will, but I hate to fish that slow. We didn't catch much, but it sure was nice to be out on the lake.
Have you been doing OK?

Seems like stupidity knows no bounds these days. The local power company wants me to sign up for one of their apps so I can be notified when the power goes off. It's been well over 100 degrees lately and the house immediately starts getting warm the instant the a/c goes off. Not to mention the glaringly obvious darkness when the lights don't come on at the flick of a switch. Even if the power went out while I was away from home what am I going to do about it? Call the power company?

Rayburn has been over 9' high for several weeks now and man are the fish scattered. There are fish everywhere from 20' deep to so shallow they need sunscreen.

There was one over 13 and another over 14 caught on Sam Rayburn March 7'th. The 13 was caught during a tournament and it was the only fish the guy caught, but he did win big bass. There was another over 12 caught that same weekend. Guess I should have been fishing instead of working on baits.

Hey Curt. Long time no chat. There are still some good ones left in Rayburn, but not in the quantities there were when we had so much hydrilla. Plus the number of people fishing these days is unbelievable and with all the new electronics there's really no place for them to hide.
Are ya'll thawing out any yet?

It was 86 here at noon yesterday and if there hadn't been a good breeze I would have turned the a/c on. Fell asleep last night with the windows open and when I woke up this morning it was 40. Didn't take long to wake up and get moving this morning.

Oh yea, you know I had to pee Curt, but I think that has more to do with being an old fart than it does with the weather.
Yep, we've got a weather channel Mike, but you have to watch it to see what the forecast is. Memory loss is another thing that get's worse with age. Blaming stuff on getting old is fun. lol

It's 10:04 pm and it's 67 degrees. The windows are open and the shorts are back on. Life is good in East Texas.

Same for me Skeeter. I used to go out no matter what the conditions were just to see if I could even get a fish to bite. Everyone thought I was nuts. (which I probably am, but that's a different story) I used to tell everyone what they called bad weather was just nature's way of weeding out the weak.

These Texas "winters" are spoiling me again. I've been wearing shorts and sleeping with the windows open for several days now. Just don't get any better than that.

You never know what winter is going to be like around here Curt. I can remember fishing on Sam Rayburn in December and it was almost 90 degrees. Can also remember fishing and it was so cold that one of the old Ray Jefferson picture tube depth finders wouldn't warm up enough to even come on. Caught a bunch of fish that day too.

i've got to start watching the weather forecast a little closer. Was having days in the high 60's and low 70's with night temps in the low 60's. Have had the windows open for a few days now. Got down into the mid 40's the other night and still had the windows open. Got a bit brisk in the house.

We actually got a couple inches of snow Thursday night. And it stayed on the ground, in spots anyway, until Saturday morning. Had to make, and throw, a few snowballs because I may not live long enough to get that chance again. Even if it hurts to bend over these days it was just as much fun as I remembered.
