  2. I would say pour slower and or hotter this is where a good IR Thermometer may help you know exactly what temp your pouring at
  3. Hmmm heating unknown chemicals could be dangerous Maybe consider tossing it and starting with fresh plastisol you know atleast what your working with
  4. Man once these molds are made I cannot wait to see them... You guys rock I sold my CNC last year used it for pool cue building for a month too much learning curve. BTW if you know anyone thats in need of Bobcad, I think Videos with dongle to operate I had 2 licenses and kept one I need to get rid of. Anyway not trying to rob your thread, back on topic... What sort of price point do you think you would have to have on one of these molds single cavity.

  12. Ok got some aeromarine rtv silicone made a few 1 pc molds and turned out great so i moved to a 2pc mold I got a brand new nonstick square baking pan and sprayed it with mold release from aeromarine. once it setup i sprayed the top and other half of the exposed lures and poured second layer of rtv. So I let it set top layer peeled off but for the life of me i cannot get the bottom layer to release it is trying to tear if ipull too hard on the mold shall i toss the pan and start over? Any suggestions?
  13. Where is the best place to buy the micro bubbles
  14. I would suspect its the mold but looking at the pic it seems the dimples are different on each bait is this a single cavity rtv mold or are you pouring in multiple molds?
  15. Best bet is to go to an already established mold manufacture like bears dels ect They already have most common mold made and usually in stock now with that said you could go to a machine shop with a cnc you would be paying machine time plus time to write the code for thier cnc to make the part thats where is going to get costly
  16. Yesterday I installed a commercial grade 400cfm vent hood tested it and no smell or smoke lingering sucks it right out..
  17. OK I am moved in my new pouring building its a 10x10 have 2 large windows and an ac to circulate air but thinking of putting a vent hood over the work bench that will house the microwave and the presto pot. Will a standard venthood suffice or whjat will i need to effectivelt vent the fumes from the plastisol
  18. Ok I was thinking before I possibly throw out my original Janns molds I started pouring with and make more room for my bears in my mold drawer There is a couple good designed baits but with the small opening i never use the toys anymore. Can you use a release agent of some sort and pour casting resin in the janns molds and then of course if you made a few masters out of cast resin I am thinking make some pop or rtv 2pc molds It seems you could then make a multi pour / multi cavity mold and pour up 4-6-8 at a time however cavities you decide to make or mold you want to make make a suitable size pour hole for each and be better off... Tell me if my thinking is off here. I have to say I do like a couple of thier designs but hate thier molds.....
  19. How much hardner do you start with per cup of plastic?
  20. Anyone consider a lure swap simular to the jig swaps done on some forums. I see how a box of lures are making it rounds but this would be a little different. I would say limit swaps to 5-10 pourers. Basically someone would host the swap all lures sent to (swaphost) once received swap host resends packs to participants. If there were lets say 10 sign up you make 10 sets of lures you essentially would get 1 of your sets back but this helps when swap host sorts them. Once swaps complete everyone would wind up with a pack of lures from each participant. Swaps can be open where maker choses everything or theme based ie (Watermelon or Craws for example) then pourer adds his twist. If this is not stepping on anyones toes and anyones is intesrest I would be happy to host one and see how it goes... As far as shipping just to give you an idea you would send your lures also enclosed send a prepaid return label going back to you so one all lures are received swap host can put a label on a box and ship your goods back your way...
  21. Yep it is an injection mold
  22. Ok I guess I am a plum idiot I decided to make a rtv mold today I made 2 attempts and failed out about $15 on silicone but wasted a lot more on other thing that did not work out. I went to wally word bought several tubes of rtv mainstay branded silicone in white. Here is what I did I added 1/2tsp of water to 20 oz of rtv mixed and placed in a pyrex rectangular shallow dish i did this really fast before I could pour my baits I was wanting to clone the rtv was already setting up too fast. Next tried to pour the rtv over the baits while positioned laying in the pyrex dish and rtv would not flow egnough around the bait I am at a loss I read a lot here and apparently I am missing something is POP easier to pour over plastic worms. I wanted to duplicate a popular swim worm for personal use...
