  1. The one side probably won't cure all the way or won't cure properly. Usually due to incorrect or incomplete mixing. If you're using a syringe, make sure it doesn't have the rubber on the plunger - D2T and other epoxies don't like silicone. On the bright side, you should be able to mix another batch and redo it and it should be fine. Hope this helped and good luck.

    Devcon 2 Ton

I paint the basecoat of white then cover with D2T, that way if I mess something up, I can easily wipe it clean and start over. I also use the D2T between paint layers for the same reason, if I have something I like it won't get screwed up because it's covered with the D2T. With the relatively short drying time of the Devcon, I can do the next layer fairly quickly. BTW, I'm using createx water based paints.
  3. I glue the mesh to the bait quite a bit. I use fabric from walmart and elmers all-purpose spray adhesive. This is one of the latest ones I've done.
  4. They make a clear paper as well as an opaque/white paper, it depends on what effect you want as to which one to use. Just print out the sized image on the paper and spray with a some type of sealer. I use a cheap indoor/outdoor clear enamel. I've heard of people using hair spray but I already but I get enough strange looks buying clear nail polish (thread sealer) and fabric (scale pattern material) so I stick with the enamel. Thank god they haven't found a use for lipstick or tampons in lure building!
  5. I use paint shop pro to shrink/edit photos. There might be some free software out there but I've never looked. They make a clear and an opaque/white paper, you probably want the clear for a lure signature. I also use them on blades for bucktails. The pic is my hound, Gunner. I refer to him as a "labradumb" but I like labratard too.
  6. You can also use your signature by writing it and then take a digital photo of it. Then use a program to shrink it. Once it's done the way you want, you can print out a whole sheet of them on the decal paper and just clip them out as needed. You can even add a graphic if you want.
  7. Alot of the guys that paint lures use a clear coat between layers of paint. For instance, if you have a base layer that you're happy with, clear coat it and then after that dries, you can do gills, fins, scales, etc. and if you mess up you can wipe it down and you still have saved the base you were satisfied with. It also adds "depth" to the look of the lure. The only thing is, each layer of clear adds weight, which may affect the lures action or buyancy if you get too much.
  8. One way to practice on the real thing is to make a lure, then paint it with a white basecoat followed by a topcoat of D2T. Once cured, you can then try different techniques and patterns and simply wipe it clean when you are done. I also have a piece of sign board that was done this way so I can actually see what mixed colors will look like when they are actually sprayed - not sitting in the cup. I'm using createx by the way. Good Luck!
  9. Larry Dahlberg had a show on earlier this year and he was adding some type of powdered metal (magnesium maybe?). It was pretty interesting. You might be able to do a search on the internet and find it. It was an episode of "hunt for big fish".
  10. Or, in the case of musky fishing, everyone has a secret pet they use as a lure.
  11. Forums tab under knowledge base - member submitted tutorials. Good luck with the tutorial, I'd like to see it.
  12. Try this http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/topic/20873-some-createx-thinning-information/page__p__155801__hl__future__fromsearch__1#entry155801 If the link doesn't work, use the search under "createx thinning information". I think there's like two pages of replies. I use it and have had good luck with it.
  13. I got pretty much the same set-up from TCP (cept I got an Iwata HP-C plus) for about the same price. I love the airbrush - compressor had a wire cut when I got it but TCP sent another right away and I fixed the original one so I got two outta the deal. Don't know about the master but if they'll let you get the iwata in place of it, I'd recommend it.
