  1. Thanks a ton Mark I really appreciate it!
  2. I was just wondering if anyone has made suspending lures out of pvc decking. I've heard its extremely buoyant which makes me wonder if it would take to much weight to keep it down. Another question is do you just epoxy the weight and rattle chambers then sand before painting, or is there a filler that can be used. Thanks!

    Prodigy crank

    Love the scales!!!
  4. What's the method called to get that look!!! Looks like a lure hendrix would use.
  5. I'm carving up a few small cranks out of basswood, and I was wondering if I had to seal the lure before painting. The reason I ask is I'm using devcon 2 ton as a clear coat. I'm assuming the D2 works as a solid sealer and was thinking I could skip the extra step. Any thoughts?
  6. Here's the lure...I know it isn't that great, but I'm happy with the results. Sorry for the crappy camera phone picture.
  7. Hello everyone... I've finished my first re-paint and it looks great! But, in prepping the lure I primered the bill thinking I wanted to paint it. After painting and clearcoating with devcon 2 ton. I decided the clear bill will really make the colors of the lure stand out even more. Since I didn't clearcoat the bill I just rubbed off the paint(createx) but not quite sure how to get the primer off the bill without ruining the lure....any ideas? Thanks in advance, Fishinguitars
  8. What's the difference between the 2 ton epoxy that takes a couple hours to dry....and the 1500 lb that only takes 15 minutes? Where does everyone get their screw eyes...I can't find any smaller than 7\16 Thanks
  9. Thanks guys.....So far its been pretty tough learning how to use the airbrushes. I'm thinking my air compresser is to weak and thats why I'm having a really hard time getting a good stream out of either one of the brushes. I'm using createx water based paint could that also been an issue why I'm having such a hard time getting a consistent stream of paint out of the brushes.
  10. Hello everyone...I've been browsing this site for months now and I can't tell you how much it amazes me how talented the lure makers and painters are on this site. I finally started buying equipment to get started painting lures with plans to start making my own soon. A few weeks ago I purchased a Badger 180-1 compresser from craigslist for 30 bucks. Then this weekend I got two airbrushes for 10 dollars a piece a badger 100 LG and a Paasche model V. I'm hoping that these will be enough to get me started with the basics. Do you think the combo of compressor and brushes should work good for painting lures? My next question is what airbrush paints are easiest to start with, and what primer and clear coat do most of you use. I plan on starting by sanding a bunch of my old Rogues and painting the patterns I've been thinking about for over a decade. Any advice or tips for someone just getting started would be great too! Tight lines, Eric
  11. Great looking baits! Its to bad they didn't have the action you were shooting for. I'm looking to make some suspending jerks too. I wonder if there is a heavier wood that would better suite the lure suspending without having to use so much weight?
