  1. Same problem with the poison tail mold. Bought the frankford arsenal spray from Barlows and put it on all my molds and took care of all my pouring issues.
  2. I ran into the same problem when I first started making lures. My problem was the hollow metal beads. They had some small burrs on the ends which locked up the blade on the clevis. The beads serve as a bearing for your clevis. I use a solid brass bead instead. They are more expensive but you can use just one bead . Just put it closest to the clevis. Also if the beads are too large they can inhibit the function of the clevis.
  3. Robber, Eagle claw makes a 28 degree hook. The hook is designed for the do it bullet bass jig mold. It should fit the poison mold since it is a 28 degree also. I am not 100 percent on this because I have never tried it in the poison mold. I am not sure of the sizes offered in that hook. You might want to check out this website if you have not already. Hope this helps. www.barlowstackle.com
  4. Try www.barlowstackleshop.com or www.fishingskirts.com. They should have them cheaper tha Jann's.
  5. I like the small jigs myself. I would suggest pouring your own to get what you want. I use the do it poison mold in 1/8-3/8 or the mixed hook football mold. You can mix your hook size and head designs to suit your needs. If you are just making them for yourself you can customize the jigs and create what you want. With just these 2 molds you would be able to choose wide gap hooks, flat eye hooks and heavy hooks. I know it is probably easier to buy them but for a small investment and some extra time I think you would be well satisfied to know you made exactly what you were looking for.
  6. I have been using devcon 2t epoxy. You will get several suggestions and all of them will be good choices. I like devcon because it stays clear and protects the cosmetic look of your baits.
  7. I have called Barlows many times. They are very helpful. They have actually pulled hooks out of bags and tried them in the mold I needed it for.
  8. Small jaw is right on with the retailers he listed. I have found that all of their quality differs from part to part. I would not to go cheap on your swivels. I like the willows from Barlows but do not like their Colorados. You will have to find out what you like. Most everything else I get from Barlows i have been pleased with. Their service has also been good. Hope this helps.
  9. Clemmy, I did not know those even existed. I checked them out. Seem like a pretty good product.
  10. The dial rods fixed my issue. I appreciate all the other advice. Good ideas. Thanks
  11. Quitting should never be an option

  12. Small Jaw, Thanks for the advice. It is easy to forget the little things sometimes. They can fly under the radar on you. I will try the dowel. I bought several feet today and I should be able to start painting tomorrow. I have several hundred waiting on me. Learning new tricks can take some trial and error. Thanks again for the advice.
  13. Looking for some advice or let me know I am on the right track. I have been making various jigs and spinner baits for a while. I used vinal paint but it was too time consuming and took some advice to get a fluid bed and switch to powder paint. I am looking for a way to keep the base holes clear of paint. I researched some old posts and someone was using 1/8 dial and putting it in the hole after heating the jighead the swishing it in the powder. I am thinking of giving this a shot.I was using the base pins for this and it was more trouble than what is was worth. The pin would get hot due to the heat transfer causing the pins to get painted. I tried it without anything in the hole and had some trouble with chipping cleaning it out. I am a novice with this set up and am looking for some experienced advice. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. I have been using a heat gun to heat my jigs. Thanks
